The Green Arrow, which is the alter ego of Oliver Queen, is a popular character of the DC Universe. His story was adapted for the live-action series ‘Arrow‘. Stephen Amell played the character of the bow-using vigilante, and fans loved it, paving the way for Flash’s TV debut, too. There were multiple cameos and an overlap of storylines between the two shows.
However, even after a decade of shows spanning the Arrowverse, including eight seasons capturing the adventures of Oliver Queen and his team, there is still no standalone movie about the Green Arrow. Is there hope, or will it forever be stuck in superhero production hell?
When Stephen Amell Revealed The Truth About ‘Arrow’ Movie

The Flash enjoyed a lot of mainstream popularity as one of the primary members of the Justice League. This led to the release of ‘The Flash‘ film during Zack Snyder’s reign in the DC-verse. Although DCU invited Ezra Miller to play the role of the “fastest man alive,” instead of Grant Gustin, who was the lead in the show.

According to Amell’s comments on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, DC had similar plans for releasing a movie about the Green Arrow and other characters of the Arrowverse. While fans got excited about the idea being explored extensively, the project fell flat. Why? The actor made it clear: “That would be fun. We tried to do that, but it didn’t [happen]. To my understanding, it just got killed at the studio level from people that I think were making decisions that were fear-based.”
Currently, there is no clarity on the exact timeline of any Arrow movie. It is unclear if they had plans for the big screen project during the show’s run or after it wrapped up. Stephen Amell did make a cameo in ‘The Flash: Season 9‘ as the Arrow, but there is no solid update about the future of his character.
How Arrow Can Join James Gunn’s DCU

After the end of the show, it’s clear that Oliver Queen can only return as the Spectre. He became Spectre when the mantle was passed on to him for saving the universe from Anti-Monitor. So now, Oliver Queen can’t be resurrected, as he died during the ‘Crisis of the Infinite Earths.’
James Gunn’s creative ideas can bring the story to reality as a movie once again. Of course, only if Warner Bros is willing to explore the prospect of a feature film about the Arrowverse.

The Arrowverse characters were unique and popular in their respective shows. A new movie about them can bring depth to the DC Universe. James Gunn has not introduced any such characters to his version of the DCU or Justice League yet. But in case Warner Bros decides to pursue the path, it will be intriguing to see the kind of plot they adopt for the movie.
