The absence of Batman in ‘Smallville‘ has long been a point of discussion among fans of the series. While the show featured many iconic DC characters, the Dark Knight was notably absent.
Amid all the frenzy, star Tom Welling has shared his thoughts on how Bruce Wayne could have been incorporated into the show. Tom, like many fans, believed that not including the Caped Crusader on the show was a missed opportunity. Here’s everything he said.
Tom Welling Mentions A Clear Divide Between DC Films And TV Shows
Speaking at TerrifiCon recently, actor Tom Welling expressed his belief that a cameo from Bruce Wayne would have been a great addition to ‘Smallville‘. “I always thought that we should have had Bruce Wayne pass through somehow. That would have been really cool to see,” he stated.
He further suggested a simple scenario where Clark Kent could have stumbled upon Bruce Wayne in Lex Luthor’s office. This would have allowed for a casual interaction between the two iconic characters without disrupting the show’s continuity. “It was just as simple as Lex being like ‘Good to meet you, Bruce,’ or ‘I’ll talk to you later, Bruce,’ and have him just walk out,” he added.
Unfortunately, the actor claimed that the challenge of coordinating between DC movies and DC television prevented this cameo from happening. He explained that at the time, there was a clear divide between the two branches of the DC universe, making it difficult to introduce characters from one into the other.

‘Smallville‘ was a groundbreaking series that followed Clark Kent’s journey from a young boy discovering his powers to becoming the Man of Steel. The show ran for ten seasons and featured a wide array of DC characters, including Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and Aquaman.
