‘Batman VS Superman: Dawn Of Justice‘ director Zack Snyder said that DC is making Batman irrelevant. Why? According to him, if the superhero can’t kill, that diminishes his powers. Well, that is a very bold statement to make about a character that is famous among the masses for his dark and charismatic aura.
Snyder stated during his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast that he “often finds himself in trouble” with fans due to his “disconstructivist” viewpoint, but he added, “It’s because I care that I want to take him apart.”
Why Zack Snyder Feels Batman Gets Affected If He Can’t Kill
Zack Synder used the example of Joker and Batman to tell that their characters are built in a certain way in the comics on the Joe Rogan podcast. He explained, “Batman can’t kill is canon. And I’m like, ‘okay, the first thing I wanna do when you say that is I wanna see what happens’. And they go, ‘Well don’t put him in a situation where he has to kill someone’.”
The not-killing part, according to Snyder, limits the storytelling. He continued, “You’re protecting your god in a weird way, right? You’re making your god irrelevant if he can’t be in that situation. He has to now deal with that. If he does do that what does that mean? What does it tell you, does he stand up to it? Does he survive that as a god? As your god, can Batman survive that?”
While Batman doesn’t bluntly kill, his equipment like the Batmobile’s machine guns can blow up the enemy. So, where to draw the line is a question haunting fans.

What Fans Think Of Batman’s Killing Policy
Zack Snyder feels that most of the fans think that Batman can “kill”, to which he says “Someone says to me: Batman killed a guy. I’m like, ‘F**k, really? Wake the f**k up.” He also asked the fans to mature up a little and actually recognize the story.
He further explained his stance by adding, “Once you’ve lost your virginity to this f**king movie and then you come and say to me something about like, ‘My superhero wouldn’t do that’. I’m like ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like down the f**king road on that. It’s a cool point of view to be like ‘My heroes are still innocent. My heroes didn’t f**king lie to America. My heroes didn’t embezzle money from their corporations. My heroes didn’t commit any atrocities’. That’s cool. But you’re living in a f**king dream world.”
Snyder led the DC Universe with ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Batman Vs Superman‘, ‘Justice League’ but now it has come to an end.
