Now that the ‘Hannah Montana‘ 20th-anniversary special is officially set to release in less than a week, Miley Cyrus has revealed Dolly Parton’s secret advice that made the whole “Hannah-versary” possible.
As excitement builds around the release, Cyrus is also shedding light on how the idea for the special actually began.
The Trick That Set The ‘Hannah-versary’ In Motion

The ‘secret advice’ Miley was talking about came down to a mindset Dolly Parton had once shared with her, and it’s all about the power of manifestation.
Cyrus explained in a Variety interview how this approach stuck with her and said, “I learned this terrible habit, but I actually think it was good advice, from Dolly.” Instead of waiting for a green signal or a clear plan, she chose to trust the process and take the first step herself.

“She told me that if you want something to happen, promote it before it exists. Then no one can say no,” Miley added. And that’s exactly what she did. She publicly began talking about a Hannah Montana anniversary special, even though nothing was officially in the works at the time.
“So I just started promoting a Hannah Montana 20th-anniversary special that literally did not exist,” she admitted.
And fans only needed that. One tease and the fandom revealed how much they still wanted to see their favorite Disney icon back on screen. The hype forced Disney to go along with Cyrus’s plans. “She willed it into existence,” revealed Disney’s EVP of live-action, Charlie Andrews.
The Special’s Sole Focus on ‘Hannah Montana’ Fans

In her interview, Miley Cyrus, along with Charlie Andrews, shared what fans can look forward to in the upcoming special, and it’s clear that the focus has remained firmly on the audience. Andrews revealed, “The thing she was adamant about is that this is for the fans,” adding that every creative decision was made with that fan-first mindset in place.

The teasers released so far reflect exactly that. The special will include an interview with ‘Hannah Montana‘ superfan and ‘Call Her Daddy‘ podcaster Alex Cooper. On top of that, Cyrus is set to perform several iconic ‘Hannah Montana‘ hits, along with a special cameo from former Disney star Selena Gomez.
Cyrus revealed that ‘Hannah Montana’ has remained a big part of her life thanks to the show’s enduring fanbase. “It’s not just a TV show,” she stated. “I see daily how important Hannah is to people.” This anniversary special will be a stroll down memory lane to celebrate the show’s impact.
