Disney’s ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit‘ has been a cult classic ever since it’s release in the late 80s, and fans have often wondered if a sequel might ever get made. The characters of Jessica Rabbit and Roger Rabbit have been two of the most iconic characters of Disney and have made their way into almost every Halloween costume list.
Creator Robert Zemeckis, however, has thoughts on a potential sequel. Here’s why he thinks it will never make it’s way to the big screen.
Here’s Why ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ Sequel Isn’t Happening Anytime Soon
One of the best parts of ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit‘ was the curvy seductress Jessica Rabbit. But as Robert Zelmeckis states, she happens to be the reason why a sequel for the film might never get made.
Jessica, according to Zelmeckis is “too hot” for Disney and will never get approved in the current times. In an interview for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the creator said, “Here’s what you have to know: The current Disney would never make ‘Roger Rabbit’ today. They can’t make a movie with Jessica in it. The sequel script isn’t ever going to see the light of day as good as it is.”

He added, “I mean, look what they did to Jessica at the theme park. They trussed her up in a trench coach” talking about when The Roger Rabbit Car Toon Spin ride at Disneyland underwent some modifications back in 2021.
Jessica Rabbit was originally portrayed in the ride as a kidnapped damsel in distress who needed to be rescued, but her role was later altered to more closely resemble that of a detective. In addition to these drastic modifications, she also wore a trench coat and hat to hide her iconic but revealing dress.
What Is ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ About?
The film revolves around Roger Rabbit, who hires a private investigator to prove his innocence after being wrongly framed for murder. He is married to Jessica Rabbit, who happens to be a nightclub singer.
Roger is suspected of killing Marvin Acme, who had been flirting with Roger’s wife, Jessica, and who owned Toontown and the business that produces all cartoon props.

The film is a satirical depiction of a world where cartoons are real and anything is possible. It has both human and cartoon characters in it. It is also loosely based on Gary K. Wolf’s novel ‘Who Censored Roger Rabbit?‘
