Disney’s D23 Expo had some major announcements. Apart from announcing many exciting future projects, the D23 Expo also revealed the names of the stars inducted into Disney Legends. The Disney’s Legends Awards is a hall of fame for individuals who have had a significant impact on the Disney legacy.
Other celebrities who have been honored previously include Christina Aguilera, Stan Lee, Betty White and Oprah Winfrey. This year, Angela Bassett, James Cameron, Kelly Ripa, Jamie Lee Curtis, James L. Brooks, Harrison Ford, Frank Oz, John Williams, and Miley Cyrus were a few names who got inducted.

Angela Bassett Inducted Into Disney Legends
The 65-year-old legendary actress was inducted as a Disney Legend and recognized for her numerous works at the D23 Expo. It included her role in Touchstone’s ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It’, her narration of the Disney+ docuseries ‘The Imagineering Story’, and her Oscar-nominated performance as Queen Ramonda in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’
‘Black Panther’ director Ryan Coogler introduced her as someone who inspired him. “To see her and what she does is truly a gift. She’s incredible. She’s been incredible for decades”, he said. After receiving the honor, Bassett said, “From day one in my pursuit of a career as an actress, I have understood that I am a part of something greater than myself.”
She added, “I offer my deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported me on this journey.” Bassett also said, “I am forever proud to be your wife, your mother, your sister, and your auntie.”

James Cameron, Kelly Ripa And Others Were Also Honored
The D23 Expo night was a huge success with many celebrities being honored for their contributions. James Cameron was honored by actress Zoe Saldana. Cameron gave an impressive speech after receiving the award. “As a storyteller who expresses through film, it’s not a solo act,” he said, adding, “You’re only as good as the artists that you can gather around you.”
Cameron continued, “I know that my job every day, when I come in, is to empower and encourage the other artists, whether they’re actors, whether they’re design or concept artists, computer animators, to inspire them to bring their best artistic selves every single day. That’s my job.”
Ryan Seacrest presented the Disney Legend Award to Kelly Ripa. “There is no better storyteller than Kelly Ripa,” he said. “She is the best at what she does to make people feel comfortable”. Jamie Lee Curtis, James L. Brooks, Harrison Ford, Frank Oz, John Williams, and Miley Cyrus were some other celebrities who were also honored.
