Angelina Jolie is acknowledged for her humanitarian efforts, for which she has received a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. She is made an honorary Dame Commander of the Order of St Michael. St George (DCMG).
The history of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship is very intriguing. When the pair met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, it was a controversial relationship (Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston at the time). They appeared like a stable unit for almost a decade.
Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in August 2016 and filed a dissenting opinion. She requests full custody of their six children, and the couple’s lawyer, Robert Offer, emits a declaration. “This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.”
Recently, the actress has been accused of using an FBI lawsuit to hurt Pitt. Here is everything we know so far.
Angelina Jolie Went On A “Desperate Fishing Expedition”
Angelina Jolie is accused of launching a “desperate fishing expedition.” Suing the FBI under the alias “Jane Doe.” She did this to learn more about the bureau’s investigation into an alleged airplane incident involving Brad Pitt. Why the actor was not charged?
FBI investigated Pitt in 2016. After accusations that he got into a fight with his then 15-year-old son Maddox during a family flight returning from Europe.
An anonymous call to the authorities sparked an FBI inquiry. That concluded on November 22, 2016, with no charges of wrongdoing. Jolie filed for divorce a few days later.
Now, a woman named Jane Doe widely assumed to be Jolie is suing the FBI for information about alleged domestic violence. The incident occurred aboard a private plane years ago. It matches the description of the incident that led to Jolie’s separation from Pitt.
The Lawsuit Seeks Details About One Particular Event
The lawsuit seeks information “about the agency’s investigation of an incident of domestic violence that occurred several years ago. It involves the plaintiff and her minor children as victims and witnesses,” according to the complaint.
“Several years ago, while plaintiff, her then-husband, and their children, who were all minors at the time, were traveling via private aircraft, the husband allegedly physically and verbally assaulted plaintiff and the children,” Doe claims in the lawsuit.
Doe tries to explain that the FBI investigated and yet “publicly announced it was closing its investigation of the incident without further action.”
The purpose of her FOIA request, according to her lawsuit, is to better understand the FBI’s investigation and obtain the information necessary for her children to receive medical care and trauma counseling as a result of the incident.
Doe also states in the suit that she has “public status” and wishes to remain nameless, as does the other party, the husband.
According to legal insiders, there is “an extremely strong possibility” that the complaint was brought by Jolie because all of the facts appear to be in her favor.
Both Jolie and Pitt’s representatives declined to comment when contacted.
Battle Over The Kids Continues
As their custody battle over their six children continues. A source claimed Jolie is allegedly trying to find damaging information against her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
“There is little precedent for the FBI sharing information about an investigation that was closed with no charges,” A legal source said. “Angelina is likely looking for a morsel of information, something else to use against Brad, to hurt him. This is a desperate fishing expedition trying to find something that likely doesn’t exist in FBI notes and make it public.”
When the FBI ended the case five and a half years ago. Both Jolie and Pitt were provided information regarding the probe, according to the source.
“I am unable to comment on the identity of Jane Doe, who has sought to preserve the family’s privacy.” Amanda Kramer, the attorney who brought the complaint on Jane Doe’s behalf, stated. “Our position is that victims and survivors should be able to access federal agency records of crimes they experienced or reported, as is common at the state level, so they can advocate for the health and trauma care and legal protections for their children and themselves.”
The FBI’s policy “prohibits comment on pending litigation,” according to a spokesman.
