President Donald Trump publicly criticized Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show moments after it aired on February 8, blasting the performance as “absolutely terrible” and “a slap in the face to our country,” despite the Puerto Rican superstar delivering a set centered on love, unity, and cultural celebration.
Taking to his Truth Social account following the show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Trump did not hold back.
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence,” Trump wrote.
He continued by questioning the performance’s accessibility and appropriateness for younger viewers. “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World. This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History!”
Trump went on to criticize both the artistic direction of the show and the media’s anticipated response, while also taking aim at the NFL itself.
“There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show, and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD — And, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Bad Bunny’s halftime performance steered clear of overt political statements, instead centering on a message of unity, love, and cultural pride. The Puerto Rican superstar closed the show by displaying a series of Latin American flags while offering a multilingual blessing to Spanish-speaking nations.

“God bless America, be it Chile, Argentina,” he said, continuing to acknowledge other countries before concluding with recognition of the United States and “my motherland, Puerto Rico,” delivered in both English and Spanish.
As the moment unfolded, a video board lit up behind him with a message underscoring the theme of the performance: “The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate is Love.”
Lady Gaga Makes Surprise Halftime Appearance Alongside Bad Bunny

Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance midway through Bad Bunny’s halftime show, joining him onstage during the nationally televised broadcast. The moment marked an unexpected collaboration featuring the 16-time Grammy Award winner.
Wearing a baby blue gown accented with red accessories, Gaga performed “Die With a Smile,” her 2024 duet with Bruno Mars. The performance was backed by a live band and delivered without Mars present. Bad Bunny later returned to the stage during her set, dancing alongside Gaga as she sang.
Gaga previously headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2017 and also delivered a surprise pregame performance in 2025. The halftime production was further elevated by appearances from Ricky Martin, Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal, and Cardi B, who danced on the field during the performance.
Hours before kickoff, Jennifer Lopez shared a public message of support for Bad Bunny on social media, writing in part, “@badbunnyPR…sending you all the love, positivity and the biggest hug in the world! We are all behind you tonight. I know that you are going to kill it! I am here with you the way you were there with me!” She added in Spanish, “Hit it hard, Benito! Like only you can!”
One week earlier, Bad Bunny used his Grammy Awards acceptance speech for Best Música Urbana Album for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS to address U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

He also added, “Also, I wanna say to the people: I know it’s tough not to hate these days, and I was thinking sometimes we get contaminado. I don’t know how to say that in English.”
The Super Bowl LX broadcast aired live on NBC from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2015 Super Bowl.
