Carlos Alcaraz has followed through on a promise he made during the season’s opening major, unveiling a new leg tattoo after winning the 2026 Australian Open. The 22-year-old World No. 1 revealed the design while practicing at the Miami Open on March 17, 2026.
The tattoo, located on his left shin, features a kangaroo outlined in black ink with partial shading, appearing to hold the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup, the trophy awarded to the Australian Open men’s singles champion.
Alcaraz had publicly committed to the design earlier in the tournament. On January 15, when asked by the official Australian Open TikTok account what tattoo he would get if he won the title, he responded, “Kangaroo.”
He also discussed the possible placement at the time, expressing some uncertainty. “I have a spot here and here, so I would think about it. I’m a righty, so maybe the right one… next to the Wimbledon one.”
The tattoo became visible during practice sessions in Miami, where much of the artwork remained partially covered by his sock. Days earlier, the Spaniard had hinted at the process on Instagram, sharing images that showed him lying down while a tattoo artist worked on his shin.

The new ink continues a tradition Alcaraz has established following major career milestones. He first began commemorating Grand Slam breakthroughs with tattoos after his 2022 US Open victory, when he became the youngest men’s player and the first teenager in the Open Era to reach the ATP World No. 1 ranking.
To mark that achievement, Alcaraz had the date “11.09.22.” tattooed above his left tricep, setting the tone for a personal tradition that now continues with each historic moment.
Inside Carlos Alcaraz’s Growing Tattoo Timeline Of Grand Slam Glory

Carlos Alcaraz has tied each of his tattoos to a first-time Grand Slam triumph, turning his career milestones into permanent markers. After winning Wimbledon in 2023, he added a strawberry design on his ankle, a nod to one of the tournament’s most recognizable symbols.
Following his maiden title at the French Open in 2024, Alcaraz commemorated the moment with a tattoo of the Eiffel Tower alongside the date of his five-set victory over Alexander Zverev in the final.
In a previous interview with Tennis Channel after defeating Novak Djokovic for his second consecutive Wimbledon title in 2024, Alcaraz explained that he initially limited his tattoos to first-time major wins, a decision he said helped keep his parents at ease.
However, he later expanded on that tradition. After capturing a second US Open title in 2025, Alcaraz added new ink featuring the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge on his arm, signaling a shift from his original rule while continuing to celebrate his biggest achievements through body art.
