Brett Veach offered a cautious and somewhat uneasy response when asked about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s reported upcoming wedding during a recent media appearance. The Kansas City Chiefs GM appeared on ESPN’s The Schrager Hour on Tuesday, March 31, where host Peter Schrager pressed him on whether he had received an invitation to the high-profile event.
“Um, we’ll see,” a visibly fidgety Veach said. “Couldn’t say either way.” Schrager followed up, “Is that, like, no one’s even allowed to talk about,” before acknowledging the shift in tone. “Ok, I can sense … the room just got really tight,” he added.
Veach laughed off the moment, replying, “That’s, like, the hardest-hitting question you’ll ever ask me.” He went on to joke that he’d be far more comfortable discussing football—even sensitive topics like the draft.
“Off the record, you can ask me who we’re picking [with the 9th overall pick], and I’m going to tell you who we’re picking at nine. I cannot disclose anything about the wedding,” he said.
Having been with the Kansas City Chiefs since 2013, Veach later shifted focus to Kelce’s impact on the franchise, praising the veteran tight end’s consistent positivity. “He puts a smile on somebody’s face every single day. It doesn’t matter if you win a game by three touchdowns or you lose a game and you gotta come back in and learn from the mistakes, everything he does, he does with a smile.”
He added, “It’s easy to lose sight of that and get into the headspace where it’s always negative, all the time. He just keeps a positive spin and an uplifting spin on everything he does. That’s one of the things, I’m glad he’s not retiring. When he does, that’s going to be almost impossible to replace.”
Kelce recently confirmed he will return for a 14th NFL season. Veach noted there was “doubt in the middle of the season” about his future but said the tight end ultimately clarified his plans following the team’s regular-season finale in Las Vegas.

“We finished our season in Vegas, and then we get back to Kansas City, and we have exit interviews,” Veach said. “Travis Kelce basically said, ‘I’m not going out like this.’” Reports have since indicated that Kelce and Taylor Swift are planning to marry before the Kansas City Chiefs open training camp, which is expected in late July 2026.

Separate reports indicate that recent leaks about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding plans have affected how the couple is approaching the event. According to an unnamed source cited by a U.S. outlet, Swift has been unsettled by private details becoming public.
The source said, “She’s someone who likes to control every detail and keep big moments private, so the fact that their timeline and all sorts of other details have already leaked out has really rattled her.”
The report added that Swift has considered changing certain elements, including the wedding date, in response to the leaks.

The couple is also reportedly planning an extended honeymoon. They are expected to travel across Europe, the Caribbean and Asia before returning in time for Kelce to join Kansas City’s training camp ahead of the upcoming NFL season.
