Bad Bunny headlined the Super Bowl LX halftime show on Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, delivering a performance rooted in Puerto Rican culture and Spanish-language music during one of the most-watched annual television broadcasts in the United States.
His appearance followed months of public discussion after the NFL announced him as the halftime headliner in September 2025. Following the conclusion of the halftime show, Chris Brown shared a message on his Instagram story that quickly drew attention online.
“I THINK IT’S SAFE TO SAY.. THEY NEED ME!! 😏”
The post appeared shortly after the nationally televised performance ended and rapidly circulated across social media as viewers continued to react to the show.
Public criticism of Bad Bunny’s selection as the Super Bowl LX halftime headliner surfaced well before game day. Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick was among the most vocal critics, taking to X to share her concerns about the language of the performance.
“Oh fun. No songs in English should not be allowed at one of America’s highest-rated television events of the year … not just for sports,” Patrick wrote.
She later expanded on her remarks during an appearance on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, offering further clarification on her stance.
“I don’t have any problem with someone performing at halftime that is not from the United States, although Bad Bunny is technically a citizen because he was born in Puerto Rico. He wasn’t necessarily born in America. I don’t care where you’re actually born. What I care about is that I can sing along to the music. His music is almost nothing in English. I don’t think it will be as much fun. I don’t think it will be as uniting. What I would hate to see is that it would divide us again, in yet another way.”

Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson also criticized Bad Bunny’s selection as the Super Bowl LX halftime headliner, voicing his disapproval in October 2025. However, the decision drew strong support from others across the entertainment world.
Jennifer Lopez publicly backed the choice during an October appearance on the Today show, expressing confidence in Bad Bunny’s ability to deliver on the biggest stage.
“I think he’s about to blow everybody’s mind,” Lopez said. When asked about the criticism surrounding his selection, she added, “I don’t understand that. He’s one of the top artists in the world right now, probably the top.”
Charlie Kirk Tribute Featured In Turning Point USA’s Alternative Halftime Broadcast

Separate from the official NFL broadcast, Turning Point USA aired an “All-American Halftime Show” during the Super Bowl intermission. The alternative program featured performances by Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett, and included a tribute honoring the organization’s late founder, Charlie Kirk, who was killed in September 2025.
As part of the memorial, a slideshow of images featuring Kirk and his family was shown alongside recorded remarks reflecting on his values and mission.
“I want to honor God in all that I do. I want to be a great husband, a great father, I want to serve this country. I want to try to continue to lead this movement,” Kirk said in the recording.
The tribute concluded with another message from Kirk, underscoring the theme of personal responsibility and national pride.
“The more often that you choose the deep, the difficult, but the right path over the easy path is one that will reward you, your family, and this beautiful nation.”
