Dejounte Murray Voices Frustration After Jania Meshell Hits Houston Club Despite Promise To Stay Away from Nightlife

NBA star Dejounte Murray and influencer Jania Meshell are once again in the spotlight after Murray publicly addressed issues surrounding Jania’s recent night out at a Houston club. The couple, who share a daughter, have had an on-and-off relationship, and things took a public turn when Murray took to Instagram to express feeling betrayed by Jania’s decision to go out despite what he described as previous promises.

Murray and Jania began dating in 2020, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about couples on social media. After a brief split in early 2022, the two reconciled and announced in January 2023 that they were expecting their first child together. Their daughter, Icelynn Mercedes Murray, was born on April 9, 2023, and the couple celebrated her first birthday in April 2024 with a circus-themed party.

However, by September 2025, Jania confirmed their breakup, saying she was entering a new chapter focused on “loving me, learning me,” marking a quiet end to their five-year relationship.

Dejounte Murray recently opened up about the reason behind his frustration, explaining that he was upset because, in his words, the couple had agreed to prioritize family life and stay away from the club scene.

Murray made his feelings clear online, also pointing out that their daughter missed school while Jania was out at the club. An X page, Fear Buck, brought attention to the situation by sharing a post highlighting Murray’s comments. The caption read:

“NBA star Dejounte Murray cries out on IG after his girlfriend and baby mama, Jania Meshell (who is also NBA YoungBoy’s BM) went out to clubs in Houston after flying out for ‘work’ despite promising him she would never go to clubs when they got together👀”

Previously, Murray addressed the situation in an Instagram post responding to those who claimed he was upset merely about Jania going out. He clarified that his frustration stemmed from deeper issues involving broken commitments and the importance of prioritizing family.

He wrote, “Was he ever once excited to being in clubs? At least send the kids with the daddy and not the mama.”

Murray also explained that he wasn’t trying to control Jania’s career, sharing, “Let’s dead that lame narrative of she don’t work cause of me… I made sure she never wanted for nothing, never spent a dollar for a production team for content, told her get back in school to learn how to open up salons, and I found it 100% and want nothing in return.”

Murray closed his post by saying he felt unfairly targeted by gossip and rumors: “I just ain’t never had nobody come tell the truth and all these fake narratives got put on a real n_ name!!!!”

The story has sparked hundreds of comments online, with people debating who was right and whether Murray’s expectations were fair. Apart from that, the NBA player was supported by influencer Arabiann.

Social media influencer Arabiann has spoken out in support of Dejounte Murray, backing the New Orleans Pelicans star’s recent statements about the viral birthday altercation involving his ex-girlfriend.

Following Murray’s clarification that he never personally invited Arabiann to his birthday celebration, the influencer took to social media to share her side of the story, one that aligns with the player’s account.

She wrote, “I never said he invited me, I said I got invited. Y’ALL SAID HE INVITED ME. I never linked that boy, y’all dumb, we’ve only texted before, and it was innocent.”

Her post came just hours after Murray addressed the controversy, which first surfaced in September when Arabiann was allegedly attacked by his ex during the event. The influencer’s statement appeared to clarify that her attendance at the event was not directly coordinated by the Pelicans guard.

Meanwhile, Murray remains sidelined as he continues to recover from the ACL injury that prematurely ended his previous season. Reports indicate that he’s expected to return to the court around January, as he steadily progresses through his rehabilitation.
