Derek Jeter and 50 Cent turned heads Thursday night as they reunited at Wayne Boich’s Reserve Cup Miami 2026 padel tournament, bringing a dose of New York flair to the Miami event.
The former New York Yankees captain and the Queens-born rapper were seen spending time together backstage ahead of 50 Cent’s performance, an insider exclusively told Page Six. The source said the longtime friends were “laughing, catching up, and joking about the good times.”
“It felt less like a padel tournament kickoff and more like Madison Square Garden energy, just without the cold,” the source added.
For the unversed, Jeter spent his entire 20-year Major League Baseball career with the New York Yankees, while 50 Cent has long been a fixture in New York hip-hop. Their appearance together quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the tournament’s opening night.

Jeter is serving as a team captain for the competition alongside NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler, with both slated to compete Thursday evening before weather conditions temporarily halted play. Mark Wahlberg was also in attendance and was later spotted chatting with Jeter during the event.
Stormy Start At Reserve Cup Miami, But 50 Cent Brings The Heat
Rain forced organizers to postpone Thursday’s scheduled matches, but the Opening Night Post-Match Party, presented by Hard Rock Bet, went on as planned.
“50 grabbed the mic and made it clear there was ‘no need to worry,’” a source said. The rapper performed several of his hits, including “In Da Club,” “Candy Shop,” “Big Rich Town,” and “Just a Lil Bit.”
Earlier in the evening, guests explored the tournament’s Fan Village, which featured a Dorsia caviar cart and food and drinks from The Joyce, Miami Slice, and Big Face Coffee. The Reserve Club VIP lounge offered premium seating and a culinary program curated by Groot Hospitality.
“Nobody was pretending they weren’t bummed about the cancellation,” a second source said. “But instead of letting the weather win, they turned it into a celebration for padel, for the players, and for Reserve Cup.” The source described the atmosphere as “high, loud, and unapologetically Miami with the perfect amount of 50 Cent.”
Wayne Boich addressed the event’s expansion in a statement obtained by Page Six. “This year’s Reserve Cup represents a meaningful step forward,” Boich said. “From the level of competition on court to how fans experience the weekend, every element has been elevated — including an expanded and refined Reserve Fan Village that builds on last year’s success.”

The Reserve Cup Miami 2026 took place from January 22 through 24, featuring some of the world’s top-ranked padel players, including Arturo Coello, Agustín Tapia, Alejandro Galán, Federico Chingotto, Miguel Yanguas, Javier Garrido, and Javier Leal. The tournament’s winning team will claim the Reserve Cup trophy along with $600,000 in prize money.
