Donald Trump reflected on the relationship between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy during a March 26 appearance on The Five. Speaking with host Dana Perino, Trump said he knew Kennedy in the 1990s and described the couple’s dynamic based on their visits to his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach.
“They would go down to Mar-a-Lago together, and they had a very interesting relationship,” Trump said. “They would bicker together, in other words, have little fights, and then they would make up and start kissing wildly.”
Trump characterized their relationship as unpredictable. “They were one of those relationships,” he said, adding, “you never know how those relationships are going to turn out.”
He also spoke about Kennedy’s political potential, saying, “I actually knew him and liked him, and he liked me, believe it or not.” Trump added, “He was going to run for the Senate. He told me, and nobody would have beaten him. I think he would have gone on, perhaps, to be the president.”
