Whoopie Goldberg declares she is officially bidding farewell to the famous micro-blogging site. It’s well into a week since Elon Musk took over Twitter and there is no paucity of headlines and feature articles because of that. After purchasing Twitter for a whopping $44 billion, Musk is under fire for a lot of reforms he has undertaken since his ownership.
Many celebrities and common people have spoken against Musk’s Twitter reforms and a considerable number of the former have quit the site. From Gigi Hadid to Ken Olin public figures from sports, music, movies, television, and beyond have quit Twitter since Musk’s ownership. Know more about why Goldberg quit Twitter.
Why Did Whoopie Goldberg Quit Twitter?
The talk show host made the announcement during the recent episode of The View, where she claimed Twitter has been “a mess” since Musk took over. Whoopie Goldberg said, “I’m getting off. I’m getting off today, because I just feel like it’s so messy and I’m tired of now having had certain kinds of attitudes blocked, and now they’re back on.”
Goldberg continued, “I’m gonna get out, and if it settles down and I feel more comfortable, maybe I’ll come back. But, as of tonight, I’m done with Twitter.” She listed all the downhole announcements Musk has made since his takeover – the new blue checkmark program going from $20 to $8, the staff firing and re-hiring. The host also cited the suspension of Kathy Griffin‘s account for impersonating Musk.

Ironically, The View promoted the news on Twitter. I think irony has become a trend now. ‘Blockbuster’ initiated this and now The View. Let’s wait and watch who else joins this list. (The irony in ‘Blockbuster‘ is that it centers on the last video rental store and it is streaming on Netflix which is the cause for the extinction of rental stores.)

Mark Cuban And Jack Dorsey Offer Advice To Elon Musk
Mark Cuban and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey are giving the app’s new owner some advice on how to run the platform. After Musk tweeted, “Twitter needs to become by far the most accurate source of information about the world. That’s our mission,” Dorsey responded, “accurate to who?”

Musk then said, “As judged by the people of Twitter via Community Notes (formerly Birdwatch),” to which the former Twitter CEO replied, “I still think… Birdwatch is a far better name. And ‘more informative’ a far better goal.” To which Musk then replied, “Birdwatch gives me the creeps.”

Cuban then jumped in and gave his two cents to Twitter owner. “You might consider proactively offering your $8 verification program for free to those you deem the most accurate Notes contributors,” Cuban tweeted. “Won’t be easy to confirm accuracy. But if AI can try to model out bias, maybe it can model in accuracy?”

Musk responded, “$8 for all,” to which Cuban retorted: “Your business. Your decision.”
