Aryna Sabalenka, the 27-year-old World No. 1 tennis player, announced on March 4 that she is engaged to Georgios Frangulis after he proposed the night before. Sabalenka shared the news on Instagram, revealing that the moment completely caught her off guard.
“Well, I obviously had no idea this was happening tonight,” she wrote over a video posted to her Instagram Story. “All good guys, everything happened. But just look how I look,” she said in the clip.
The Belarus ace then turned the camera on herself while wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, to which Frangulis interjected with joy. Sabalenka and Frangulis also shared photos and videos from the proposal, which showed Frangulis down on one knee with flowers arranged behind him and candles surrounding them.
In one Instagram carousel, Sabalenka wrote, “I can finally call him something else… FIANCÉ 💍.” “You & me, forever ♾️ 3.3.26 💍🤍,” the couple captioned a video of the proposal.

The posts drew congratulations from several prominent figures in tennis, including Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, and Coco Gauff. Jack Doohan also shared his excitement in the comments, writing, “Goosebumps, couldn’t be happier for you both 💜💜💜💜,” while Olympic skiing legend Lindsey Vonn added her own message of congratulations.
Sabalenka and Frangulis first met in January 2024 after she became an ambassador for his Oakberry company.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the custom-made ring features emerald stones surrounding an oval-cut diamond weighing more than 12 carats. Georgios Frangulis designed the piece with Aryna Sabalenka’s jewelry preferences in mind, while jewelry designer Isabela Grutman crafted the ring.
Sabalenka and Frangulis began dating in early 2024, and he has since become a regular presence in her player box at major tournaments.
At the US Open in 2025, Sabalenka captured her fourth Grand Slam singles title by defeating Amanda Anisimova in the final. Following the match, Frangulis sent her a video message, and Sabalenka later reflected on his support after the victory.
She said, “His support means a lot to me and the way he supports me, nobody ever did and it’s just amazing and now I cannot wait to go, celebrate and enjoy this trophy together.”

Sabalenka is next scheduled to compete at the 2026 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. She has previously finished runner-up twice at the WTA 1000 event and enters the tournament with 22 career singles titles.
