Wednesday Friday Addams is a fictional character created by American cartoonist Charles Addams. The character has also made appearances in live-action and animated television, film, and video games. Everyone’s favorite sassy younger sister will have her own TV show. ‘Wednesday’, a new live-action show about Wednesday Addams of the Addams Family will be available on Netflix shortly, thanks to Tim Burton’s gloriously twisted mind. Jenna Ortega will be seen playing the titular role.
‘Wednesday Addams’ Is All Set To Hit Netflix
Netflix unveiled the first look at Jenna Ortega from the upcoming Addams Family series. It is a part of its Geeked Week programming. It aims to explore a new chapter in the Addams Family saga, focusing on Wednesday’s adolescence.
In every previous iteration, Wednesday has been younger,” Al Gough previously told EW. “We loved the idea of aging her up to 15.”
Wednesday is a “sleuthing, supernaturally tinged mystery” as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy, according to the program, which has Tim Burton on board as a director and executive producer.
“Wednesday attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago. All while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore,” reads the series’ description.
Jenna Ortega On Playing Wednesday Addams
Now we can see Ortega in costume for the first time. “We’ve never seen her as a teenage girl,” Ortega previously told EW. “You know, it’s funny and sweet and almost charming to hear this eight-year-old’s obsession with murder and blood and guts. As she gets older, that nasty attitude or [those] biting remarks, it’s almost kind of hard to not make it sound like every other teenage girl. So, it’s like, how do we establish this character and give her the same fire without letting her become something that she’s not?”
Luis Guzmán plays Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia Addams, and Christina Ricci plays a mysterious new character in the series.
Ricci is well known for her roles as Wednesday in The Addams Family (1991). Also, Addams Family Values (1993). Ortega talked about playing the iconic character – “I’ve never had the opportunity to play an iconic character before,” Ortega told EW. “I know she’s well-loved and well-respected and I just don’t want to mess her up.”
‘Wednesday’ is set to hit Netflix in 2022.
