Kevin Durant Sidesteps Allegations Of Trashing Teammates On Secret X Account

Kevin Durant declined to engage publicly with renewed social media allegations this week, emphasizing that his priority remains on-court performance rather than what he called distractions online.

The Houston Rockets forward addressed reporters on Wednesday after viral screenshots circulated on X, appearing to show an account linked to Durant criticizing teammates in a private group chat.

Durant did not confirm or deny whether the account belonged to him, instead reiterating his focus on basketball. “I know you got to ask these questions, but I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense,” Durant said. “I’m just here to focus on the season, keep it pushing.”

When pressed on whether the situation had been discussed internally, Durant downplayed any potential impact on team chemistry. “My teammates know what it is,” he said. “We’ve been locked in the whole season. Enjoyed our break. Had a great practice today, looking forward to the road trip.”

The screenshots circulating online were attributed to an account using the handle @GetHigher77 and appeared to reference teammates Alperen Şengün and Jabari Smith Jr. while also describing the Rockets in derogatory terms. No verified evidence has established a connection between Durant and the account.

Public reaction has been shaped in part by Durant’s acknowledged history with anonymous social media use. In 2017, while playing for the Golden State Warriors after departing the Oklahoma City Thunder, he admitted to operating private accounts to defend himself online, later treating the episode humorously.

Houston entered the week with a 33–20 record, placing the team fourth in the Western Conference standings as it prepared for an upcoming road stretch. Durant’s comments signaled an emphasis on postseason positioning rather than online discourse.

Away from the court, Kevin Durant has become the central figure in a new advertising initiative from skincare brand CeraVe that draws directly from years of internet discussion about the appearance of his legs.

The campaign, titled “The New Face of Legs,” was developed with OBB Media and expands on CeraVe’s broader “Moisture Like a Derm” platform. Online commentary intensified after fellow NBA player Draymond Green referenced Durant’s dry skin on a podcast, helping catalyze the brand’s concept.

Promotional material has included social media videos of Durant reading critical posts, staged gym photography featuring moisturizing cream, and courtside fan signage preceding a reveal advertisement in which the athlete appears holding the product. Additional footage features a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist discussing skin-care credentials.

Early engagement around the skincare campaign prompted distribution beyond social platforms into connected-television advertising during the Winter Olympics, with placements extending to international markets including France and China.
