Luka Dončić has ended his engagement to longtime partner and model Anamaria Goltes as the former couple enters a legal dispute involving their two young daughters. The Los Angeles Lakers guard confirmed the split in a statement to ESPN on March 10, saying the breakup followed disagreements over where their children would live during the NBA season.
“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement,” Dončić said.
He added, “Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”
The couple shares two daughters: Gabriela, 2, and Olivia, 3 months old. According to court documents obtained by media outlets, Goltes has filed a petition in California seeking child support and attorney fees from the six-time NBA All-Star.
Reports indicate Dončić did not anticipate the filing. Court documents state that Gabriela has spent roughly three months in California with her father, while Olivia has not yet visited the United States.

The legal dispute follows a series of developments that intensified tensions between the former partners. On February 26, Dončić filed an interim injunction in a Slovenian court seeking immediate contact with his daughters.

Luka Dončić appeared publicly with the Lakers shortly after confirming the split, arriving for the team’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena. The Slovenian star signed autographs for fans near the tunnel before the matchup and maintained a professional demeanor during the appearance.
The situation traces back to December 2025, when Dončić traveled to Slovenia for the birth of his second daughter, Olivia. The NBA guard had missed two Lakers games to attend the birth and later spoke about the trip after returning to the United States.
“I don’t even know how to describe it,” he told reporters at the time. “It was a lot. I was there for the birth of my daughter, so that means everything to me. But it was definitely a roller-coaster.”
During that visit, Dončić expressed a desire to bring his eldest daughter Gabriela back to California with him. According to reports, the request led to an argument between the couple at the hospital. Goltes contacted police after Dončić left the maternity ward.
A police report later stated officers “did not detect any elements of a criminal offense or misdemeanor.”

Dončić joined the Los Angeles Lakers after being traded from the Dallas Mavericks in February 2025 and later signed a $165 million contract extension. Meanwhile, Goltes returned to Slovenia with their eldest daughter in May 2025 and remained there through the birth of their second child.
Dončić and Goltes first met in 2010 when they were both 12 years old and began dating in 2016. The NBA star proposed in July 2023, and the couple announced their engagement on Instagram at the time.
Since confirming the breakup, both have removed photos of each other from their social media accounts while the legal dispute regarding their daughters continues.
