Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim revealed that she discovered a fake engagement photo circulating online after fellow Olympian Lindsey Vonn texted her to offer congratulations.
Kim addressed the altered image during a February 25 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The viral photo, which spread during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, appeared to show her boyfriend, Myles Garrett, proposing.
“Don’t fall for it, guys!” Kim told the audience after host Jimmy Kimmel displayed a printed copy of the image and said it had been created using Photoshop or artificial intelligence. Kim explained that Vonn contacted her shortly after competing in the women’s downhill event.
“I hope she doesn’t get mad at me for sharing this, but she texts me,” Kim said. “She’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, congrats.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, thank you. But you already congratulated me for my medal.’ “
“She’s like, ‘On the engagement,’ “ Kim continued. “I’m like, ‘What?’ And so, I Google ‘Chloe Kim engagement’ and I see this.” Kim said her mother quickly recognized the image as fake.
“She was like, ‘You would never wear something like that,’ “ Kim said, adding that her mom referred to it as “that A.I. picture.” The snowboarder also pointed out several visible inconsistencies in the image.
In the photo, she appeared to already be wearing an engagement ring before the supposed proposal moment, while Garrett was shown wearing sunglasses. “Two, he’s wearing sunglasses,” Kim said. “I don’t want my man to propose to me with sunglasses on.”

Chloe Kim Secures Silver Medal In Livigno After Injury-Plagued Season

Chloe Kim entered the 2026 Winter Olympic Games as a two-time gold medalist and competed in the women’s snowboard halfpipe in Livigno, Italy. She finished with a silver medal behind 17-year-old South Korean snowboarder Choi Gaon.
Her result followed a difficult stretch that included burnout, mental health challenges and a January shoulder injury involving a dislocation and torn labrum. Despite limited preparation time, she returned to competition and earned a podium finish.
“I learned to adapt and find the silver lining,” she told PEOPLE. “I came out of this a lot stronger.”
Kim said her family and Miles Garrett supported her in Italy. Garrett wore a zip-up layer featuring a large graphic of Kim’s face from a prior Olympic Games beneath his winter coat in Milan. Moreover, even Snoop Dogg also wore a jacket displaying her image.
“He’s the best,” Kim said on CBS Mornings on February 24. “It’s so fun that everyone came out for that. It just made a really intense, stressful moment so light and kind of grounded me. Just to remind me why I’m here to begin with, and it’s always been my support system, my family.”
