Megan Thee Stallion has welcomed a new pet into her home after rescuing a dog that had been scheduled for euthanasia at a shelter. The rapper introduced the dog, Tyger, in a video shared on Instagram on March 27, explaining that she had only recently learned about kill shelters and immediately decided to take action.
“I’ve rescued a dog,” Megan said in the clip. “Because I was yesterday years old when I found out that there’s such a thing as a kill shelter, and they are putting down dogs when they cannot find them a home.”
According to Megan, Tyger had been set to be euthanized just a day earlier before she stepped in. “That is insane, they were going to put him down yesterday,” she said.
“And I said, ‘No, wait. Just give him to me. I’ll take him.’” The video showed Tyger resting against her neck as she introduced him to fans. “Aww, my new son,” she said before kissing the dog. “He’s so happy.” Tyger now joins several other pets in Megan’s care, including her French bulldog 4oe, also known as Foe—along with Foe’s three puppies and her Maine Coon cat, Nine.
Megan admitted she is still figuring out how the new addition will settle in with the rest of her pets. “I don’t know how Foe is going to feel about this,” she said in the video. “I don’t know how Foe kids is going to feel about this.”
She added that she plans to closely watch how things unfold. “So yeah, we’re gonna see how Tyger does tonight,” she said. “I don’t know what kind of dog this is but he my son.”

The rescue comes amid a busy stretch in Thee Stallion’s career. She is currently making her Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, taking on the role of Zidler for a limited run.
