Jalen Rose will premiere his first scripted television series, South West High, on Tubi on February 23, 2026, marking the first major original release from his Detroit-based production company, Same Page Entertainment.
The five-episode drama follows Nolan Thomas, a former professional basketball player who returns to his struggling alma mater to serve as principal. The character works to stabilize the school while addressing leadership pressures, community expectations, and personal sacrifices. Each episode will run approximately one hour and will roll out weekly.
Rose co-created the series and stars in the lead role. The fictional storyline draws thematic inspiration from the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, the Detroit charter school Rose founded in 2011.
“This series is fiction, but the spirit behind it is very real. I’ve had a front-row seat to the determination, resilience, and ambition of young people in Detroit,” Rose said in a statement.
He added that the goal was to reflect stories of students “believing in a future full of possibility.” The cast includes Dawn Halfkenny, Towanda Braxton, Christina Cooper, and former NFL linebacker Stevie Baggs Jr.
