New Netflix Docuseries Promises An Unfiltered Look At Hulk Hogan

A new documentary on Hulk Hogan is set to premiere on Netflix on April 22, the platform announced Monday. Titled Hulk Hogan: Real American, the film will explore the life and legacy of the wrestling icon, whose real name was Terry Bollea.

The announcement emphasized a central theme of the project. “Before he was Hulk Hogan, he was Terry Bollea,” the statement read. “Uncover the man behind the legend — featuring his very last interview. Hulk Hogan: Real American premieres April 22 on Netflix.”

The documentary marks the first major release centered on Hogan since his death on July 24, 2025. He passed away at the age of 71 following a heart attack.

For the unversed, Hogan rose to prominence in the 1980s as one of the most recognizable figures in professional wrestling. He became the face of WWE during its national expansion under Vince McMahon, helping transform the company into a global powerhouse.

Following his departure from WWE, Hogan experienced a career resurgence in WCW. He played a pivotal role in the formation of the New World Order alongside Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, a groundbreaking storyline that helped redefine wrestling programming in the late 1990s.

The documentary is part of WWE’s broader content partnership with Netflix, which began in early 2025. Under the agreement, WWE’s flagship program, RAW, now streams weekly on the platform.

Hulk Hogan has remained involved with WWE in various roles following the end of his in-ring career. He most recently appeared on the debut episode of RAW on Netflix in January 2025, where he delivered a promotional segment for his Real American Beer brand.

That appearance drew significant attention due to a negative crowd reaction. Hogan had previously faced backlash and a fallout with WWE and fans after racist remarks surfaced in a leaked recording.

Beyond weekly programming, Netflix has continued to expand its WWE-related offerings with original content, including WWE Unreal, a behind-the-scenes series that has already released two seasons, with a third currently in development.
