Rare Appearance Of Shohei Ohtani’s Wife At Dodgers Wives Celebration Sends Fans Into Frenzy

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series triumph offered fans a rare glimpse into the personal life of Shohei Ohtani, as his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, made a rare public appearance during the team’s championship celebrations. Following the Dodgers’ dramatic 5–4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in 11 innings to clinch the 2025 World Series, Tanaka joined other players’ wives and partners for an exclusive postgame celebration.

Her presence quickly drew attention, as Tanaka has maintained a notably private profile since marrying Ohtani in 2024. Fans were delighted to see her share in the team’s joyous moment, marking one of her few public appearances since the couple tied the knot. Adding to the buzz, Freddie Freeman’s wife took to Instagram after the win, posting a photo that featured Tanaka, giving fans a brief but heartwarming look at the Dodgers’ inner circle of family support.

Chelsea Freeman, wife of Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, shared photos from the post-World Series celebration on Instagram. Her caption read, “My girls 🫶🏻💙 #big3 #dodgers #worldseries.”

One picture showed Freeman standing beside Mamiko Tanaka and Brianna Betts, the wife of Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts. All three women were smiling and wearing matching Dodgers jackets with their husbands’ jersey numbers stitched in red.

Another photo in the same post showed a group of Dodgers wives and partners gathered on a staircase, all dressed in the same custom jackets. Tanaka, a former professional basketball player from Japan, played for the Fujitsu Red Wave in the Women’s Japan Basketball League after a standout college career at Waseda University. She retired from the sport in 2023 before Ohtani signed with the Dodgers.

The couple’s relationship remained private until Ohtani surprised fans by announcing their marriage on February 29, 2024, through an Instagram post. In his message, he wrote, “The season is approaching, I am pleased to announce to you that I have gotten married. We are still young and [there are] many things we don’t know yet, but we hope you will warmly watch over us.”

In December 2024, Ohtani announced they were expecting their first child, and in April 2025, they welcomed a daughter. “Welcome to the Ohtani family! I am so grateful to my loving wife who gave birth to our healthy beautiful daughter,” he wrote at the time. Apart from that, the couple was also seen publicly celebrating the Dodgers’ win.

As already stated, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2025 World Series victory offered fans a rare and heartwarming glimpse into Shohei Ohtani’s personal life during the team’s victory parade.

A fan video posted by ShotimeLAD on X captured the couple standing on a balcony as confetti rained down, with Mamiko Tanaka playfully adjusting Ohtani’s pose for a photo. The caption read, “Shohei and Mamiko! She’s trying to get him to take a nice photo.”

The brief yet endearing clip quickly went viral, delighting fans around the world. For many, it marked one of the rare public moments shared between Ohtani and Tanaka since their marriage, offering a glimpse of the couple’s quiet affection amid the Dodgers’ championship celebrations.

For the unversed, the Dodgers became the first team in 25 years to win back-to-back World Series titles, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 5–4 in 11 innings in Game 7. After the win, Ohtani said that the team was already focused on winning a third straight title. His performance throughout the season and postseason reinforced his status as the team’s cornerstone.

Ohtani’s father, Toru Ohtani, spoke from Japan after his son’s remarkable performance in the National League Championship Series, where Shohei hit three home runs and struck out ten batters in one game.

He stated, “Too good to be true. Once you pull something like that off even once, people start saying, ‘do it again next time,’ and as a parent, it’s kind of scary. He ends up being burdened with such expectations, and I feel sorry for him.

Ohtani’s playoff numbers added to his dominance. He batted .265 with eight home runs, including a historic Game 4 in the NLCS where he became the first player ever to hit three home runs and record ten strikeouts in a postseason game.

In Game 3 of the World Series, an 18-inning marathon against Toronto, Ohtani reached base nine times and hit four extra-base hits, tying a 119-year-old World Series record. With their championship core returning for 2026, the Dodgers will aim to become the first team since the 1998–2000 Yankees to win three consecutive World Series titles.
