Serena Williams’ Recent Practice Sessions Spark Fresh Comeback Talk

Serena Williams has returned to regular on-court training, fueling renewed speculation about a potential comeback, as fellow professional Alycia Parks shared details of their recent practice sessions.

Parks revealed that she has been training with the 23-time Grand Slam champion multiple times each week while in the United States. Speaking to Tennis Channel on March 19, she explained how the sessions came together and what she has observed from Williams’ current form.

“I did text her when I was in the Middle East and I was like, ‘Hey, can you practice when I come back to the States?’ and she was like, ‘Yeah, let’s go,’ “ Parks said.

The 25-year-old added that the training has been consistent. “So we got in a few sessions and yeah, she’s been helping me. When I’m home, I would say probably three times a week,” she said.

Parks also offered insight into Williams’ physical condition and performance level during their practices. “She’s hitting good,” she said. “Yeah, she’s definitely fit. She looks great and she’s hitting the ball amazing.”

Williams last competed professionally at the US Open in 2022. Parks did not confirm any plans regarding a return to competition and noted that the subject rarely comes up during their sessions.

“I don’t know if she’s coming back, I don’t know when she’s coming back,” Parks said. “We just go to practice, we don’t really talk too much about her coming back. It’s just like fun stuff.”

The renewed training activity has drawn attention because Williams has remained largely away from competitive tennis since her final match in 2022, while continuing to stay active in the sport through practice and mentorship.

Serena Williams has publicly addressed similar rumors in the past, including a firm denial in December 2025 after reports suggested she had taken steps required for a competitive return.

“Omg, y’all I’m NOT coming back. This wildfire is crazy,” she wrote on X at the time. Despite that statement, Williams has consistently avoided using the term retirement.

After her final appearance at the 2022 US Open, she indicated that a return remained possible. “The chances of me returning are very high,” she told The San Francisco Standard in 2022.

In an essay published by Vogue in August 2022, Williams clarified how she views her career shift. “I never liked the word retirement. Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution.”

Williams’ recent training schedule and Parks’ comments add to ongoing public interest, though no official confirmation of a return to professional competition has been announced.
