Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have been named in a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by sneaker company 1587 Sneakers over the name of their steakhouse restaurant, 1587 Prime.
The lawsuit, reported by ESPN, names the Kansas City Chiefs teammates and their hospitality partner, Noble 33, as defendants. According to the filing, 1587 Sneakers alleges that the restaurant’s branding infringes on the company’s established trademark.
“From the onset, we have communicated a sincere belief that there is room for mutual respect and understanding,” 1587 Sneakers co-founder Adam King said in a statement to ESPN.
He added, “That belief has not changed, and we continue to hope to resolve this matter amicably.”
1587 Sneakers gained national exposure after appearing on Shark Tank in 2024, according to ESPN. The company argues that the similarity between its brand name and the athletes’ restaurant name could create marketplace confusion.
On the business front, Kelce and Mahomes launched their steakhouse, 1587 Prime, in September 2025. The restaurant’s name blends the jersey numbers of its co-owners: Mahomes’ No. 15 and Kelce’s No. 87 to form “1587.”
The venture is part of a broader partnership with Noble 33, a hospitality group known for developing high-profile dining destinations.

The complaint centers on whether the use of “1587” in the restaurant’s branding infringes on the sneaker company’s protected mark. As of publication, neither Kelce nor Mahomes has publicly responded to the lawsuit. The case remains pending, and no court ruling has been announced.
Off-Field Turmoil Hits Chiefs As Lawsuit Surfaces At Pivotal Time

Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL in Week 15 of the 2025 season against the Los Angeles Chargers and later underwent successful surgery. The two-time MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion remains in recovery and is expected to miss all or most of the 2026 season as he continues his rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, Travis Kelce is weighing his playing future after completing his 13th NFL season. The veteran tight end earned his 11th Pro Bowl selection, though his production dipped as the Kansas City Chiefs finished the 2025 campaign at 6–11 and missed the playoffs. Kelce has not publicly confirmed whether he will return for a 14th season.
Head coach Andy Reid continues to guide the franchise as it approaches a pivotal offseason, with key roster and strategic decisions looming ahead of 2026. After falling short of the postseason, Kansas City faces adjustments on both sides of the ball, particularly with Mahomes’ recovery timeline uncertain and Kelce’s status still unresolved.
