Sylvester Stallone is one of the ultimate action stars Hollywood has ever produced. The actor has been a part of some super successful franchises like ‘Rocky‘, ‘Rambo‘ and ‘The Expendables‘ among others.
He recently lashed out at the producer of the ‘Rocky‘ franchise, Irwin Winkler, over ownership rights. Irwin is the producer of all ‘Rocky’ and subsequent ‘Creed’ films in the franchise.
Stallone Criticises ‘Rocky’ Producer Irwin Winkler
Stallone recently took to his Instagram handle to criticize Irwin Winkler, producer of the ‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’ franchises, and his son David Winkler, who is also a producer.
The 76-year-old actor criticized David’s recently published memoir ‘The Arrangement: A Love Story’ and called it “by far the worst” book he had read. He also suggested using the book as toilet paper “if you ever run out of toilet paper.”
Stallone went on to write that the “unbearable worthless dreck was written by the painfully untalented David Winkler.” He also called Irwin “the remarkably untalented and parasitical Producer of ‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’.” The action star then continued that he “respected and LOVED” Irwin’s producing partner, Robert Chartoff, who co-produced the sports drama. Robert passed away in 2015.
In a follow-up post, the action star wrote about an ownership dispute over the franchise. He wrote: “I really would like [to] have at least a little WHAT’s LEFT of my RIGHTS back, before passing it on to ONLY YOUR CHILDREN – I believe That would be a FAIR gesture,” He said that he “wanted to leave something of ‘Rocky’ for my children.”
Stallone Recalls His Painful Memory From ‘Rocky 3’
Earlier this year, Stallone opened up about ‘Rocky 3′ and a painful memory associated with the 1982 film. It marked the film debut of WWE wrestler Hulk Hogan who played the cameo role of Thunderlips.
The actor talked about how Hogan’s hit led him to tumble down on the floor. He said, “At 6 feet 7 and 295 pounds with 24-inch biceps! He was an amazing athlete! Incredibly powerful.”
He added: “I remember a violent move where he threw me into the corner, charged across the ring like an ENRAGED bull and leaped so amazingly high above me that his shinbone actually came down (like a) giant tree on my collarbone, and I tumbled to the floor.”
Stallone explained his pain, “I was afraid to look at my shoulder for about 10 minutes… I said, ‘Don’t roll me over, don’t move me,’ because I was sure there was bone protruding through my upper chest! Of course, there wasn’t but I have never felt such a mind-numbing pain from a massive hit before or since that day!”
‘Rocky 3’ was the third film in the franchise and became a commercial success. Some critics however felt the film was unnecessary.
