Taylor Swift publicly credited fiancé Travis Kelce with helping spark a new electronic remix of her song “Opalite,” after DJ Chris Lake revealed he reached out to Kelce directly via social media messages in January.
Lake announced on February 13 that “Opalite (Chris Lake Remix)” would be available to preorder for a limited 48-hour window and shared screenshots of his January direct messages with Kelce detailing how the collaboration came together. In the exchange, Lake told Kelce he would “take a crack at remixing” a track for Swift and promised he would do his “best.”
Kelce replied enthusiastically, writing, “Chris! You’re a legend, bro love everything you come out with, and Chemistry is one of my favorite albums I listen to right now!! Can’t to see how you put it together, man.”
He added, “Caught you and The Fish at Coachella a while back and is still one of my favorite sets of all time.” Two days later, Lake messaged Kelce again to say he had “something really cool with this.”
After hearing the remix, Kelce responded, “It’s so good dawg, I’m gonna be rippin this s*** every car ride,” before adding, “She loves it too!! She said her teams gonna reach out asap!”
Swift later reshared the announcement on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Confirmed. Travis is my in-house house guy,” alongside a prayer emoji, publicly acknowledging Kelce’s role in connecting the DJ to the project.
