Katherine Zhu became emotional Sunday as her husband, two-time major champion Collin Morikawa, captured his first PGA Tour victory in more than two years at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California.
Footage shared by the PGA Tour showed Zhu standing near the closing hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links as Morikawa made a birdie putt on the par five 18th to complete a five under 67 in the final round. The finish secured solo first place at 22 under overall and prompted an emotional reaction from Zhu on the sideline.
“The only two shots I saw on 18 were the last two putts because of the crowds. And I didn’t have signal to check the pga tour app. I wanted to make sure :),” Zhu wrote in the comments of the PGA Tour’s social media post.
The win marked Morikawa’s first PGA Tour title since the Zozo Championship in October 2023. He closed ahead of a leaderboard that included Min Woo Lee, Sepp Straka, Tommy Fleetwood, and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who mounted a late challenge after opening the tournament with an even par 72.
“Great field, great leaderboard — looking at it the entire day. And just to be able to pull off those last two shots, it feels great,” Morikawa said.

Morikawa tapped in his final putt before embracing Zhu beside the green. The victory has now moved him from No. 19 to No. 5 in the world rankings, placing him behind Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Fleetwood, and Justin Rose following the tournament’s conclusion.

Collin Morikawa confirmed after the round that he and his wife are expecting their first child later this year, sharing the news in an interview with CBS Sports on February 15.
“We are actually expecting later this year, in a few months. We just started telling people this week,” Morikawa said. “We said, what a better way, the best way, to just announce it to the world if I was able to come out and win.”
Reflecting on the moment, he added, “There’s so much to life. There’s so much to enjoy … I’m just so thankful for the people around me. My team, Kat, my wife, my parents, my brother. I’m speechless right now.”
For the unversed, Morikawa and Zhu met in 2017 while competing in college golf at the University of California, Berkeley, and Pepperdine University. They married on November 26, 2022, during a ceremony attended by about 100 friends and relatives at the Hotel Bel-Air.
