Travis Hunter has been nominated for the NFL’s Rookie of the Week award following his standout performance in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams. Hunter played a season-high 67 offensive snaps, caught eight passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. Jacksonville targeted him 14 times as the team looked to maximize his playmaking ability on offense.
He was nominated alongside New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward, Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins, and Los Angeles Chargers tight end Oronde Gladsen II.
For the uninitiated, Gladsen made history with the most receiving yards by a Chargers tight end since Antonio Gates, the most by a rookie tight end in 40 years, and the highest total by any rookie in 2025.

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen addressed Hunter’s expanded role, noting that both the offensive and defensive staffs are evaluating how to use him moving forward. While speaking with the media, he said the following:
“I think that is absolutely going to be a part of the conversation this evening with both sides of the football. I thought that there were some definite flashes yesterday in terms of on offense specifically, had a great pass breakup as well on defense. And we are going to play the best 11 as much as humanly possible after this bye.”
Through seven games, Hunter has logged 324 offensive snaps, 162 on defense, and three on special teams, a total of 489 plays. He averages 46.2 offensive plays, 23.1 defensive plays, and 69.8 snaps per game.
Moreover, Hunter now leads the Jaguars in receptions with 28 and ranks second in receiving yards with 298, trailing only Brian Thomas Jr. (365 yards). He averages 10.6 yards per catch. Defensively, he has 11 tackles, four assists, and three pass breakups, underlining his rare two-way impact for Jacksonville.
