Travis Kelce offered straightforward advice about asking someone out during a special hotline episode of the New Heights, two years after he first went public with Taylor Swift.
Kelce joined his brother Jason Kelce on the podcast when a caller asked for guidance on how to approach a girl for a date. Travis suggested starting by identifying what stands out about her. “I think first you gotta figure out what do you like about her?” Travis questioned. “You like the way she looks? She likes the way she dresses? You like how funny she is? You like how kind she is?”
After identifying that quality, he advised offering a compliment centered on it. “That will get you in the door or at least,” he said. “You gauge how she reacts to that and then that gives you a better understanding of whether or not she would be willing to go out with you. But that’s always a good conversation starter to let someone know that you like them.”
Jason Kelce then joked about what he called “the old Ed Kelce tip-off,” suggesting their father, Ed Kelce, might advise the caller to “find her unattractive friend and you befriend her, and you start making her feel like she’s interested.”
Travis quickly rejected the suggestion. “Do not listen to that advice. That is the 1950s way of dating,” he said. Jason then simplified the approach with a direct suggestion. “Here’s what you do, you ask her out,” Travis agreed.
He added, “Yeah, there’s no other way around it other than you just gotta just gotta do it, man. You just gotta own it. You gotta have some cojones. What’s the worst she’s gonna say? No?”
He added that preparation can make the moment easier. “Have a conversation starter and then have a nice segue into maybe hanging out at the movies or at the mall or wherever your destination is,” Travis said. “You gotta have a destination where you wanna take her. That’s enticing. And then, yeah, go from there, bud.”

Later in the episode, the Kansas City Chiefs ace joked about the limits of their guidance, while Jason reiterated that there was “no trick” to asking someone out and encouraged a simple invitation to see a movie.
