Travis Kelce delivered a highlight moment at the 2026 WM Phoenix Open pro-am, drawing a standing ovation after nearly sinking a tee shot on one of golf’s most famous holes.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end participated in the pro-am on February 4 at TPC Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he stepped onto the par-3 16th hole, known for its stadium-style atmosphere.
Kelce’s tee shot landed just a few feet from the hole, narrowly missing a hole-in-one and immediately igniting the crowd. Following the shot, Kelce was handed the tournament’s signature gold chain and put it on as fans cheered.
He then celebrated by pretending his golf putter was a guitar, strumming it as the crowd remained on its feet, according to Golf Week.
“I think Taylor Swift’s going to write a song about that one,” Golf Channel’s Eamon Lynch said during the broadcast.

The 36-year-old NFL ace attended the event days before the 2026 Super Bowl, which will be the first in four years not to feature the Chiefs after Kansas City was eliminated from playoff contention in December.
The appearance marked a high-profile offseason moment for the three-time Super Bowl champion, who has been a regular participant in celebrity and professional-amateur golf events between NFL seasons.
Travis Kelce’s Golf Appearances And Future NFL Plans

Travis Kelce has frequently been spotted on golf courses during NFL offseasons. He and his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, played together in the 2025 American Century Championship at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort in South Lake Tahoe.
He also drew attention at a 2024 celebrity golf tournament when he was seen dancing to Taylor Swift’s song “Lavender Haze.”
Beyond tournaments, Kelce has showcased his golf skills on screen. He recently appeared in Happy Gilmore 2, where co-star Christopher McDonald, who reprised his role as Shooter McGavin from the 1996 film, said Kelce has “got game.”
Director Kyle Newacheck credited Kelce’s professional sports background for his on-camera presence. “He’s an athlete, so he knows the moment,” Newacheck told PEOPLE. “He knows how to perform in the moment.”

Kelce’s appearance in Arizona came amid questions about his football future. Speaking to reporters on January 4, he said he planned to take time with his family before deciding whether to return for another NFL season or retire.
“I’ve got so much love for this team, this organization, and the people here, so I’ll spend some time with them, go through exit meetings tomorrow, and get close to the family and figure things out,” Kelce said.
As of early February 2026, Kelce has not publicly announced a decision regarding the next phase of his NFL career.
