Director and producer James Cameron’s ‘Avatar 2‘ is ready to be released this December, with a banging cast. This second edition of the ‘Avatar‘ series, named ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, is basically a story about a family named of Sullys and the troubles that follow them. Edward Norton, an American actor and filmmaker, was approached by Cameron to be a part of the movie.
However, Norton refused Cameron for ‘Avatar 2’. Instead, he opted to act in ‘Alita: Battle Angel’, which was a production by Robert Rodriguez. Norton played the role of Desty Nova in this $200 million sci-fi movie, which came out in 2019. So, why did he actually turn down the ‘Avatar‘ film?

Why Did Edward Norton Turn Down ‘Avatar 2’ Offer?
Edward Norton revealed in an interview with Total Film magazine that he declined the opportunity to be a part of ‘Avatar 2‘. For Norton, he wanted to be either a Na’vi or nothing. As James offered him a part as a human antagonist that aims to destroy Pandora, it didn’t really meet his expectations. Because of his preference to be cast in a particular spot, he declined Cameron’s offer.
In Edward Norton’s words, “I am friends with Jim, and actually enormously admire and kind of adore him. So when he wanted me to do something in ‘Avatar 2’, I basically told him. ‘If I’m not a Na’vi, I’m not doing it. I’m not being part of the industrial world, coming in to destroy Pandora. I’m either a Na’vi or nothing.'”

All About ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’
The second edition of ‘Avatar‘ is finally all set to be released after 13 years of its first edition, ‘Avatar’ (2009). This upcoming American sci-fi will be released on December 16, 2022. After the success of the first edition, Cameron announced the making of its first two sequels in 2010. The second movie was supposed to be released in 2014, however, due to the need of developing newer technologies for its production, it kept on getting delayed.
The basic storyline of ‘Avatar 2‘ is that Jake Sully has now formed a new family in Pandora. However, a familiar threat returns to them, to finish what was started previously. Jake, along with his army of Na’vi, must go to war in order to protect everyone.
