The ‘Harry Potter‘ universe is about to be reimagined for a new generation after Daniel, Emma, and Rupert. While fans are debating casting rumors and expectations, many are wondering something far more personal: how do the people who defined these characters feel about being replaced?
Daniel Radcliffe has now broken his silence on HBO’s upcoming series, revealing not just his own reaction, but what the original trio, Emma and Rupert, think about returning to Hogwarts.
Daniel Radcliffe Calls Watching New ‘Harry Potter’ Cast “Surreal”

During his interview with PEOPLE, Radcliffe stated that it is an unexplainable feeling to see three young stars starting their journeys that might change their lives forever. He stated, “How surreal it is to watch people starting off on that journey, all those years later“.
Despite not having any long conversations about the HBO adaptation, Daniel Radcliffe stated that everyone feels the same about watching a new group of actors start over on a story that framed his, Emma’s, and Rupert’s careers as well. “It’s one of those where I think we all just know how the others feel, because we’re also feeling it“, said the Guns Akimbo actor.
Radcliffe also shared that it was a crazy experience for him at the time, and it makes him admire his parents for what they went through. He stated, “Honestly, it makes me admire, and I do tell them this, but my parents, more than I was capable of doing at the time. Just going like, ‘Wow, you got me through something crazy, and you did it with a huge amount of humor.’ It’s a big task”.
