10 Things Marvel Wants Us To Forget Forever

The journey of Marvel Comics to the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be described as “arduously gutsy.” The Goodman brothers had a rough start with Timely Publications which became Atlantis, and today we all know the massive Marvel Comics. The good folks at Atlantis Magazine wanted to revamp Comics to compete with the rivals DC Comics. The first-ever Marvel superhero that was born on paper was Captain America in 1941, and eventually, all the superheroes found their place.

Fantastic Four is responsible for the universe that we know of Marvel today. In 2008, With Iron Man and Hulk, the Universe was replicated on the big screen. Today, there are four phases in the universe with many movies and OTT shows which are interconnected. However, even though the Studio is minting millions of dollars, there were certain moments where Marvel faltered and wanted to erase that memory forever, but cinematic footprints would not allow them. We bring to you the moments that Marvel wants to erase from their cinematic memory.

Existence Of Odin In The Marvel Films

Odin is the father of Thor and the mighty ruler of Asgard. He has the potential to wipe off the powers of the entire Asgard as he stripped Thor’s power after the Jotunheim war. Until the arrival of Thor, Odin is by far the mightiest of all. He has the power to take over all the nine realms, but his existence can be bothersome.

If you remember the New York war, Odin sent Thor to strip Loki of all of his powers when he could have stopped his son and brought him back to Asgard. The Mighty Father could have deterred Loki from enslaving the human race.

The Changing Powers Of Infinity Stones In The Marvel Films

The power that the Infinity Stones, Gauntlet, collectively, holds has changed from film to film. It is established that the Infinity Stones can physically inflict pain if Mortals lift them. However, in the Guardians of the Galaxy, in the end, we come to know if handled collectively it will not cause harm.

This trope was continued in the Endgame where Thanos, Hulk, and Tony Stark feel the energy passing through their body as they get hold of the Infinity Stones. On the other hand, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Clinton Barton dodge the Gauntlet without any effect. Very convenient, Marvel!

Timeline Of The Spider-Man(2017)

For the first time, the major motion picture studios Sony Pictures and Marvel collaborated on Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. The studios have custody of the character. So, during the 2017 film, they made a minor error that did not go unnoticed. The movie commences with the aftermath of The Avengers in 2011.

In The Avengers, Spider-Man retconned it when he was 10. So, technically, the movie takes place after 6 years. But, in the title card, the film showed 8 years later jumping two years ahead in the timeline.

The Avenger With Many Abilities, Loki

The stepson of Odin, Loki had more than one ability that Marvel thought would go unnoticed but become one of the narrative flaws in the Marvel Universe. In the post-credit scene of Thor, we see Loki is Dr. Selvig, but minus the blue eyes that Loki’s mind-controlling powers transform in The Avengers. He also does not need Scepter to be influential and a mind-controller.

So, if he has already been gifted with these powers, why does he need a Scepter? He could have used this ability during the Tower scene with Tony Stark. And in Thor: Dark World, he uses his shape-shifting ability to get out of the Asgardian prison and converts himself into Captain America and Thor in Sif. The origination and utilization of these powers are unknown.

Captain America’s Arc In The Endgame

One of the many emotional scenes in the last film of Phase III was Captain America returning the Gauntlet. He decides to live in the past with Peggy ending the arc on a sweeter note. There were certain time travel rules established before the time heist.

According to the rules, if you change the past, you cannot change the future. In fact, it creates an alternate future. So, the origin place of Captain America changes if he decided to stay in the past.

Odin Possessing Gauntlet Before Thanos Employ The Dwarves To Create It

Marvel pulled a great, gutsy stunt with the Norse mythology introduction. They introduced the universe with the first Thor film. However, the audience saw a major inconsistency in the film with Gauntlet. Infinity War revealed that Thanos forcefully recruits Dwarves to create a weapon to constrain the powers of the Stones, and later kills them. But, Eitri is saved, who confronts Thor for the non-interference of Asgard.

During the time, Asgard was too busy saving itself to look at other matters. This means Thanos scouted to create the Gauntlet during or post-Thor: Ragnarok. Hela addresses this inconsistency later when she proves that the Gauntlet seen in Thor is just an artifact. A question that arises is how did Odin get hold of the Gauntlet before it was even made?

Marvel’s Unnecessary Attempt To Bring Back Coulson

It is Marvel Studios’ favorite hobby to kill and resurrect the dead heroes. Thor gets killed but brought back with magic; Loki dies but Thanos brings him back after he falls into a space hole. However, the man behind the assembly of Avengers, Coulson had an unwanted resurrection. After bringing the Avengers back together, Coulson dies.

However, in Agent of SHIELD, everyone discovers that he is still alive. This upset the internet audience and rightly so as the man died committing a noble action.

How Could Hela And Captain America Lift Thor’s Hammer?

One of the most famous folklores in the Marvel Universe is Thor’s Hammer. It is an established fact that no one can lift his hammer. He, too, loses the power to lift it himself. There are many instances where the Avengers try to lift it but to no avail! Nevertheless, in Thor: Ragnarok, Hela easily palms the hammer and even breaks it into pieces. How? In the same film, we come to know that Mjølnir channels instead of holding Thor’s power.

Next, in the Endgame, Captain America distorts it, creates a thunderbolt, and lifts the hammer. Again, how? In the comics, the hammer has an inscription, “Whosoever holds this hammer if s(he) be worthy shall possess the power of Thor.” Maybe, the power of thunder passes through Captain America, hence the thunderbolt.

Tony Stark’s Sacrifice

One can never shake off the priceless moment of Tony Stark aka Iron Man sacrificing his life for the sustenance of the human race. The snap of the gauntlet saved his band of the army and the universe. However, it is disappointing that no Avenger takes the effort of bringing Tony back, not even Doctor Strange. The sorcerer could have brought the man back with a wave of his hand given that he has traveled 14 million dimensions.

Another alternative was the Mind Stone. In the Infinity War, Scarlet Witch aka WandaVision destroys the Mind Stone and her vision. But, Thanos reverses her death without affecting the current timeline.

The Whole Incredible Hulk Film

Marvel wants to erase not just a memory, but a whole film and that is The Incredible Hulk! After the film was released, it became the worst performing MCU movie at the box office. The Studio shunned the characters altogether. What happened to Samuel Sterns who was transformed into The Leader? No update on Bruce and Betty’s relationship!

Although, the She-Hulk trailer shows the return of Tim Roth’s Abomination. Let’s see if Marvel can turn this sour memory into something sweet.
