As Marvel Studios moves closer to wrapping up The Multiverse Saga, fans have been eagerly speculating about who might return for the grand finale, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. Among them, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man comes up a lot.
Recently, Garfield sat down for an interview with MTV and, true to form, playfully dodged questions about whether he’s making a comeback in the MCU. However, his coy response only added more fuel to the fire that the Amazing Spider-Man might swing through the multiverse once again.

The actor, known for lying before about his return, was his usual charming self when asked about his rumored involvement in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, which will conclude Marvel’s sprawling Multiverse Saga. “See, what it is, is this a tell? Or what is it?” Garfield laughed. “You’ll find out! Whatever response I’m having, is it exasperation? Is it? I don’t know. You’ll find out.” It was the kind of answer fans have come to expect from Garfield.

Garfield has a long history of denying his involvement in Marvel, only to later appear in a stunning fashion, as he did in ‘No Way Home’. Back then, Garfield firmly denied all rumors, only to surprise audiences by sharing the screen with Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland in one of the most emotionally charged Spider-Man scenes ever filmed. So naturally, his evasive tone this time has fans convinced that something is in the works.
With ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ promising to unite heroes across universes, the door seems wide open for Garfield’s return. When asked which MCU characters he’d love to interact with, Garfield didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, I love Hugh Jackman,” he said, expressing admiration for the veteran actor who reprised his role as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. The idea of seeing Garfield’s Spider-Man alongside Jackman’s Wolverine instantly sparked fan excitement across social media.
Garfield also praised Sony’s Spider-Verse movies, which continue to expand the multiverse in animation form. “I really love the Spider-Verse movies. I love Lord and Miller. Just putting that out there,” he said. His version of Spider-Man even made a small appearance in ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ through archival footage. The actor also expressed interest in teaming up with Tom Hardy’s Venom, calling him “a formidable actor.” “What he’s done with Venom is super fun,” Garfield added. “I’m up for a good time.”
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Might Not Feature Charlie Cox’s Daredevil

While Garfield dodges questions about the MCU’s next Avengers film, another piece of Spider-Man news has been making waves, and not necessarily the kind fans wanted to hear. According to a recent update shared by industry insider MyTimeToShineH on X, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will reportedly not feature Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. The scooper reposted a report confirming that Cox has joined Idris Elba’s Apple Original film ‘This Is How It Goes’, which begins production this month.

So, it leaves little room for a cameo in the web-slinger’s next chapter. Cox’s Matt Murdock last appeared briefly in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, a surprise that delighted fans and teased a potential team-up with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. However, for now, it seems that Marvel’s street-level hero won’t be returning for ‘Brand New Day’. Despite that, anticipation remains high for the upcoming 2026 film. In an interview, Holland revealed that the project feels less like a sequel and more like a fresh start.
“It really feels like we aren’t making the fourth movie,” he said. “We’re making the first movie in the chapter… This is a rebirth. This is something completely new.” While it’s unclear whether Andrew Garfield will swing back into action alongside Holland, the timing of his cryptic comments and ‘Secret Wars’ speculation has fans hopeful. After all, if ‘No Way Home’ proved anything, it’s that Marvel can and will bring fan dreams to life in ways no one expects.
