In a new interview with Deadline, Anthony Mackie not only confirmed his involvement in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, but also teased the exciting role he’ll play in leading the next generation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. “I’m the Avenger from the old group that brings in the new group,” Mackie revealed.
“That’s the perk of being Captain America. I get to pick who I want to hang out with,” he added. With ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ set to hit theaters soon, it’s clear that Sam Wilson’s journey as the Star-Spangled Man is only just beginning. Moreover, his confirmation for both the upcoming films solidifies his position as a central figure in the MCU’s next era.
The actor also gave fans a significant production update on ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. He revealed that filming for the film will kick off in the summer of 2026. In the meantime, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will begin shooting this summer in London, keeping Mackie busy for the foreseeable future.
“We shoot in London through the summer and then the following summer we shoot the next one (Avengers: Secret Wars). It’s going to be a full slate,” Mackie said. Moreover, the confirmation that Secret Wars won’t start filming until 2026 lines up with the movie’s scheduled release in 2027.
