Anthony Mackie Confirms His Role In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ And ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for its biggest event yet, and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America is right at the center of it all. With ‘Captain America: Brave New World‘ on its way, Mackie is gearing up for his first solo film.

Moreover, the actor has a lot to say about how his Captain America will be a whole new take on the character. Now, he has confirmed that Sam Wilson will be the one behind assembling the Young Avengers in the upcoming films.

In a new interview with Deadline, Anthony Mackie not only confirmed his involvement in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, but also teased the exciting role he’ll play in leading the next generation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. “I’m the Avenger from the old group that brings in the new group,” Mackie revealed.

That’s the perk of being Captain America. I get to pick who I want to hang out with,” he added. With ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ set to hit theaters soon, it’s clear that Sam Wilson’s journey as the Star-Spangled Man is only just beginning. Moreover, his confirmation for both the upcoming films solidifies his position as a central figure in the MCU’s next era.

The actor also gave fans a significant production update on ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. He revealed that filming for the film will kick off in the summer of 2026. In the meantime, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will begin shooting this summer in London, keeping Mackie busy for the foreseeable future.

We shoot in London through the summer and then the following summer we shoot the next one (Avengers: Secret Wars). It’s going to be a full slate,” Mackie said. Moreover, the confirmation that Secret Wars won’t start filming until 2026 lines up with the movie’s scheduled release in 2027.

In addition to sharing updates on ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, the Captain America actor also subtly teased another major casting detail for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. During the premiere of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, Mackie was asked if he had a message for Tom Holland. It’s safe to say his response wasn’t disappointing.

Hey Tom, looking forward to seeing you when I get to London, baby. You’re beautiful,” he stated. At first glance, it seems like friendly banter. However, given that ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ is set to begin filming in London this March, Mackie’s words could be a direct hint at Holland’s involvement in the film.
