Blade Finally Debuts Into The MCU In ‘Marvel Zombies’ Trailer With A Surprising Moon Knight Twist

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for another unexpected twist, and this time it comes with blood, guts, and an undead twist. After months of anticipation, Marvel Studios has finally unveiled the trailer for its animated limited series ‘Marvel Zombies’, set to premiere on Disney+ on September 24, 2025.

Fans got more than just zombie-fueled chaos in the new footage as they also received their first proper look at Blade in action. While the character has been teased for years in post-credit snippets and sly references, the trailer gives us a full-blown version of the vampire hunter. Additionally, this Blade isn’t just the classic version fans know; he comes with a unique twist.

Spinning out of the ‘What If…?’ episode that first introduced Marvel’s alternate-universe zombie apocalypse, ‘Marvel Zombies’ expands the idea into a four-part TV-MA animated event. The trailer wastes no time reminding viewers that this is not your usual Marvel show. The violence is front and center. Zombified versions of iconic characters like Captain America and Scarlet Witch are tearing through the battlefield.

Among the returning faces, fans will see Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, and even the much-missed Black Panther. Spider-Man, Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, and Ant-Man’s floating head also pop up. This confirms that the series will continue threads left dangling after ‘What If…?’. However, the real highlight and the moment that made fans hit pause and rewind was Blade.

For years, Marvel audiences have been waiting for the day the Daywalker would finally step out of the shadows. His voice cameo in ‘Eternals’ sparked endless theories, and his long-delayed solo movie starring Mahershala Ali has no updates. In the meantime, Marvel has been teasing Blade’s presence without fully committing. That makes his role in Marvel Zombies all the more exciting. In the trailer, Blade is seen in full swing, slashing through hordes of undead with a sword that glows under the moonlight.

His movements are quick, brutal, and reminiscent of Wesley Snipes’ cult-favorite portrayal of the character from the early 2000s. Fans have been desperate to see a proper Marvel Studios version of Blade, and while this one is animated, it finally feels like the character has arrived. There’s a bittersweet catch, however. Mahershala Ali does not voice Blade in the series. Instead, actor Todd Williams steps in to bring him to life.

‘Marvel Zombies’ Features Blade’s Surprising Fusion With Moon Knight

As exciting as Blade’s arrival is, the trailer adds an unexpected layer to his character: he appears fused with elements of Moon Knight. Dressed in a white uniform similar to Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector, complete with glowing white eyes, Blade feels like a supernatural hybrid between the two heroes. The footage even shows him facing off with Khonshu, the moon god who gave Moon Knight his powers.

In case you missed it: How Wesley Snipes’ Return Complicated MCU’s ‘Blade’ Reboot

This “Blade Knight” twist is as bizarre as it is brilliant. On one hand, it pays tribute to Moon Knight, a character who has been largely absent from the MCU since his Disney+ series in 2022. On the other hand, it gives Blade a refreshing new aesthetic that distinguishes him from his comic book counterpart. Fans already love how he looks, and judging by the fighting style glimpsed in the trailer, this Blade is every bit the ruthless, stylish warrior the character demands.

But why combine Blade with Moon Knight in an alternate universe rather than give fans the classic Daywalker they’ve been waiting for in live action? Some speculate that Marvel is testing the waters before Blade’s MCU debut. Others believe it’s a clever workaround to keep Moon Knight relevant while his live-action future remains uncertain.
