“It Was News To Me”: Brandon Sklenar Addresses Nova Casting Rumors

The ‘It Ends With Us’ actor Brandon Sklenar has been the subject of fan-casting discussions, with many hoping to see him don the cape and cowl as Batman in James Gunn’s ‘The Brave and the Bold’.

Meanwhile, another rumor has linked him to the role of Richard Rider, aka Nova, in an upcoming Marvel Studios project. Now, the actor has addressed these rumors head-on.

The ‘Nova’ rumors began circulating after insider reports suggested that Marvel Studios was looking at actors for the role of Richard Rider, with Sklenar’s name in the mix. When asked about the speculation in a recent interview with The Playlist, the actor admitted that he had heard the rumors.

However, he made it clear that he was just as surprised as everyone else. “Yeah, I heard about that. It was news to me,” Sklenar said. “I think I was supposed to meet with [Marvel Studios/Marvel Television] at some point here… with Kevin Feige. We’ll see. That would be cool.”

While that’s far from a confirmation, the fact that he does have a scheduled meeting with Marvel is intriguing. Whether it’s about Nova or another project remains a mystery. Additionally, given Marvel’s history of secretive casting, it wouldn’t be surprising if Sklenar is in contention for a role.

However, just like the other actors he’s playing it safe by not revealing any details. As for the Nova series itself, information remains scarce. According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Annihilus, a powerful villain from Marvel’s cosmic lore, will be the show’s antagonist.

While Sklenar seems open to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’s made no secret of his desire to play a certain billionaire vigilante over at DC Studios. Over the past few months, fans have championed him as a potential Batman for ‘The Brave and the Bold’. The film will introduce a new Dark Knight alongside his son, Damian Wayne.

Sklenar is fully aware of the fan-casting and isn’t shying away from the idea. “I’ve seen a bunch of fan-casting for this Batman thing, and that’s very interesting to me. I love Batman. That would be a dream, for sure. But we’ll see what happens, I’m built for it. It would have to be the right thing at the right time.

Taking on a role as iconic as Batman is no small feat. Additionally, Sklenar hasn’t had any official talks with DC Studios yet. Unlike his confirmed meeting with Marvel, there are no rumors about Warner Bros. reaching out to him about playing Bruce Wayne.
