Brandon Sklenar Is Reportedly On Marvel’s Casting List To Play Richard Rider In ‘Nova’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding once again, and this time, it’s heading straight into the cosmos. The ‘Nova’ series isn’t just introducing one of Marvel’s most beloved cosmic heroes; it’s also setting up a larger intergalactic saga.

With production for the show set to begin in late 2025, Marvel is actively searching for its lead. Whether or not Brandon Sklenar lands the role, one thing is certain, Richard Rider is set to make his big MCU debut.

According to industry insider Jeff Sneider (via The Hot Mic), actor Brandon Sklenar, known for his roles in ‘It Ends with Us’ is reportedly on the shortlist to play Richard Rider, also known as Nova. Fans have been waiting for Nova’s arrival in the MCU for years. Now, it looks like that patience is about to pay off.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously confirmed in an interview with ComicBook.com that Richard Rider will indeed be the lead in the upcoming Nova series. “It’s happening, it’s coming together. Richard Rider, yep,” Feige said.

While the project is still a few years away, with production slated for late 2025, anticipation is already through the roof. Moreover, adding Sklenar to the mix would be an exciting move for Marvel. However, the studio has yet to officially announce his casting.

Annihilus Might Be The Main Antagonist In ‘Nova’

According to reports, ‘Nova’ will take inspiration from 1980s military films, giving it a unique, action-packed energy. Given that Nova’s story revolves around the destruction of the Nova Corps and his rise as a cosmic protector, this approach makes perfect sense.

Additionally, Insider Daniel Richtman previously reported that Annihilus, the powerful ruler of the Negative Zone, will serve as the series’ main villain. In the comics, Annihilus is responsible for leading the devastating Annihilation Wave, which nearly wipes out the entire Nova Corps.

So, if the series follows a similar trajectory, fans can expect a high-stakes, emotionally charged story that delves into Richard Rider’s struggle as the last surviving member of his corps. There’s also speculation that the series won’t just focus on Richard Rider but could also introduce Sam Alexander.
