Brie Larson’s “Wig” Selfie Has Marvel Fans Convinced Captain Marvel Is Returning In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Marvel fans are buzzing once again, and this time around, everyone is looking at Brie Larson. Months after ‘The Marvels’, the Oscar-winning actress has made a social media post, which has sparked speculation about whether she is secretly reprising her role of Captain Marvel in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.

As Marvel Studios continues to keep its secrecy, fans are analyzing each frame, caption, and emoji to get hints, and the evidence, though circumstantial, is sufficient to set the internet ablaze.

Brie Larson Sparks ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Speculation With Mysterious Wig Post

It all started when Brie Larson posted what appeared to be an innocent selfie on Election Day, November 4th. The image depicted her dropping her ballot, wearing a casual outfit with a hoodie pulled close over her head. However, fans quickly realized that something was different. A bit of long, blonde hair was sticking out of her hood, and there was a caption that read “Ignore the wig!” with a shushing emoji. And for fans, it was all that was needed.

In a few minutes, comment sections and Reddit threads were filled with theories. The general consensus? Larson was in her Captain Marvel wig and had just inadvertently verified that she was in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. To put it into perspective, the last time Larson played Carol Danvers was in ‘The Marvels’ with a much longer hairstyle that can be seen in her selfie. And with Marvel having a long-standing reputation of keeping secrets, the thought that Larson could be back on set in disguise did not seem that outlandish to fans.

Still, there’s a catch. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is said to have completed the main shooting several months ago, and reshoots cannot have started that early. Larson resides in Los Angeles, where she was evidently voting, whereas the majority of the Marvel productions are made in London or Atlanta. The timing does not quite work. With that said, we are talking about the MCU. It’s a franchise that, at one point, had Andrew Garfield openly deny his appearance in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. So, the absence of confirmation, therefore, does not mean much to fans.

Simu Liu Opens Up About His Avengers Future

As Larson was burning social media with his post, another Marvel star is burning the headlines due to a more down-to-earth reason. In a recent interview with ComicBook, Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu opened up about his experience of joining the largest ensemble of Marvel in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. “I was just in like quite a large Marvel movie with a lot of these actors, some of whom have been playing the same role for over 20 years,” he shared.

And I’m stepping into their world… It’s everything I can do just to stop myself from shaking.” The actor confessed to struggling with imposter syndrome in the process of shooting. “You’ve still got to show up and try your best. Try your best to get something usable in there and get out of your own way,” Liu said. “I feel like a lot of times we use insecurity as an excuse not to show up. But you just take it a step at a time.

Liu’s honesty about the pressure of working alongside Marvel veterans like Chris Hemsworth and Anthony Mackie resonates with fans who’ve followed his underdog journey. “If we can just not make it about ourselves for a second and focus on the work… then hopefully, when you do it for 40 years, someone will be looking at you and saying, ‘Holy crap, what I would give to do work like that,’” he concluded.
