‘Captain America: Brave New World’ star Anthony Mackie has responded to swirling rumors about the film’s extensive reshoots. There was a lot of speculation around Marvel cutting up the film during its production process.
However, Mackie denies anything of that sort. Meanwhile, new insider reports suggest significant changes to the movie, including a reworked opening, a new villain, and even the inclusion of another Hulk.
Major Plot Changes And Addition Of A New Villain In ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Like every Marvel project, a lot of rumors have surrounded ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. Additionally, some of them suggest the movie has undergone sweeping changes due to unsatisfactory test screenings. Fans were understandably concerned, as such revisions often signal trouble.
However, Anthony Mackie, who now wields the shield as the MCU’s new Captain America, tried to clear up the air. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Mackie addressed the rumors directly. He insisted that the film’s reshoots are entirely normal. “It wasn’t retooled at all, every Marvel movie I’ve done has done reshoots, so it’s not retooling or remaking,” Mackie explained.
“You basically get the movie and the story you want, you edit it together, then go back and shoot a few more scenes.” Reshoots are often employed to enhance storytelling or add depth to certain scenes. However, some industry insiders suggest this project might be an exception. According to the insider MyTimeToShineH, Marvel changed a lot with reshoots.
“They literally changed the ending, the opening, added a new villain and another Hulk, a new post-credits scene, and changed a character’s death,” the insider wrote. Moreover, these alleged changes hint at a much larger overhaul, likely to align with Marvel’s evolving Phase 5 and Phase 6 plans.
Harrison Ford On Playing The Red Hulk In ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Amid the speculation, legendary actor Harrison Ford opened up about his experience with joining the MCU as the Red Hulk. Ford’s character marks a pivotal moment for the franchise. Known for iconic roles in ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘Star Wars’, the actor, downplayed the complexity of stepping into the superhero genre.

While also Speaking to Empire Magazine, he stated, “I tried to understand the ambition of the filmmakers and to be useful to them. I just didn’t sit home at night and say, ‘Oh, what do I want to do when I turn into the Hulk?’ It didn’t seem to me to be a terribly difficult acting proposition.”
Moreover, despite Ford’s humility, director Julius Onah painted a different picture of the actor’s performance. “All of us on set were like, ‘Holy fucking shit, he nailed it,’” Onah remarked. “It’s really great to get back to a Hulk that is just fucking breaking shit, and a rage monster.” Onah’s comments suggest that Red Hulk will bring a lot of energy to the film.
