With all the hype and speculation surrounding ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, it’s clear it won’t be a simple superhero movie. It is already being billed as the biggest movie of the next decade by stars Channing Tatum and Simu Liu. According to them, the film will be a love letter to the superhero genre.
As the Russo Brothers are back to direct for the first time since ‘Avengers: Endgame’, the 2026 film is expected to break all records. And, judging by the words of the stars, the fans are in for a treat.
Channing Tatum Refers To ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ As The Everest Of Films

The question that fans and the actor himself had been asking over the years was whether Channing Tatum would ever have his moment as Gambit. The charismatic mutant was finally introduced into the limelight, ten years after canceled projects and studio reboots in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’. Tatum, in a recent interview with Deadline, was unable to conceal his excitement. He referred to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as a film that everyone in the world will see.

He was ecstatic while describing the film’s scale and ambition. “It’s hard to say this because, I mean, you hear these things and go, ‘Of course.’ But they’ve topped themselves every time. This will be the biggest movie of next year, maybe even the next 10 years.” He continued to explain how he read the script for the first time and was blown away by what the Russo Brothers had imagined. “The scope of it, what they’re trying to do, what the Russos have cooked up. When I read it, I was just like, ‘How are they going to do this?’”
The actor also spoke about the huge physical and emotional toll of his role. “It was an Everest of a mountain to climb. I’m still in awe. I do so much action in this movie, but that was just a small part.” It is obvious that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will not be just a simple superhero film. It is bound to push the boundaries. To Tatum, the fact that Gambit is finally being introduced to the MCU is huge. X-Men fans are particularly excited to see him with returning legends such as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who will portray Professor X and Magneto.
Simu Liu Called ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ A Love Letter To The Superhero Genre

Whereas Tatum offered insights into his epic experience on screen, Simu Liu, the Shang-Chi of Marvel himself, has more to say about ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Liu, in an interview with SR, explained the film in three words: “Dream come true”. “There are just so many actors in it,” Liu said, his excitement unmistakable. “Getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them.”

To Liu, ‘Doomsday’ is not just a film. It’s a tribute to the whole superhero legacy that defined his life. He continued: “It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.” It is a feeling that fans can relate to. Following years of multiversal anarchy, recasts, and tonal experimentation, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ feels like the type of film which will restore the heart to the MCU.
To him, the movie is not about flashy crossovers or unexpected cameos, but rather a tribute to the emotional attachment that fans have had to these characters over 15 years. “It’s for all the misfits and the weirdos and the underdogs that grew up reading comic books and feeling like there was hope for them somehow, that it didn’t matter if they didn’t fit in,” Liu shared. “There’s always been a special place in my heart for that entire genre.”
