Charlie Cox is not overthinking it when it comes to future crossovers. Ask him which of the Avengers he would like Daredevil to join, and his reply is surprisingly cheeky.
It is not merely a matter of narrative sense or comics fidelity. It is sometimes a matter of instinct, and perhaps personal taste as well.
Why Charlie Cox Thinks Black Widow Is Daredevil’s Ideal MCU Partner

Cox has mentioned Black Widow several times as his choice of a Daredevil team-up. On the surface, it makes sense. Both characters are in the grey areas of morality, striking a balance between violence and justice. They are not gods or billionaires; they are down-to-earth, human, and somewhat broken.
Such a combination would produce something unique on screen. Not only action, but tension, problems of trust, and perhaps even a spark of something more complex. But Cox is not entirely reasoning because of the narrative depth. It has a refreshingly candid surface to it. “Just remember that Daredevil is, famously, has a lot of girlfriends,” he shared.
So, putting him with Natasha Romanoff would fit that trend in a manner that would be immediately recognizable to fans. And then there is the real-life aspect that he was not afraid of: the possibility of collaborating with Scarlett Johansson. “I’m not gonna turn up the opportunity to work with Scarlett Johansson,” he stated. It’s an honest response to being on screen with one of the biggest stars of the MCU.
A Black Widow Team-Up Makes Sense

Interestingly, Cox also said that he would consider Iron Man as another Avenger, depending on his mood. That contrast says a lot. An Iron Man team-up would be more inclined to wit, ego conflicts, and snappy dialogue. A Black Widow team-up, however, is more intimate, more subdued, and possibly more intense.

Such flexibility is what makes Daredevil such an interesting character within the greater MCU. He can fit in various dynamics without losing his uniqueness. Either way, Cox’s answer doesn’t feel like a calculated pitch; it feels like curiosity. And sometimes, that’s exactly where the best on-screen pairings begin.
