‘Daredevil‘ may be best known for his small-screen team-ups with the Defenders. However, Charlie Cox would rather see the Man Without Fear step up to the big leagues and join the Avengers instead.
While Netflix’s ’The Defenders’ had mixed reviews fans are still awaiting their return in the MCU. However, Cox has bigger fans for Daredevil.
Charlie Cox Believes Daredevil Being A Part Of The Avengers Would Be An Homage To The Character

The ‘Daredevil’ actor was asked if he’d prefer Daredevil to align with the Avengers or the Defenders going forward. Cox acknowledged that it was a difficult choice, “It’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place,” he joked. However, he ultimately leaned toward the Avengers.

“Over the course of these years, I’ve become a big fan of this character. One of the things I’m acutely aware of is there are some really cool team-ups, and Daredevil plays a really interesting, pivotal role in some of the Avengers comics. For the sake of the character, I think that would be a wonderful moment… An homage to so much history,” he explained to Comicbook.
Cox’s version of Daredevil originally gained popularity through Netflix’s street-level Marvel shows, where he teamed up with fellow Defenders. The quartet had their own standalone series before uniting for ‘The Defenders’ in 2017. While that crossover event received mixed reviews, the characters still have a passionate fan base waiting for their return.
Marvel TV Boss Says A Defenders Reunion In The MCU Is “Inevitable”

While Charlie Cox envisions Daredevil among Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Marvel Television’s Brad Winderbaum has a different perspective. The Head of Streaming at Marvel Studios strongly hinted that the Defenders will reunite in some form. When Marvel first partnered with Netflix, it brought Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist into a darker, street-level corner of the MCU.

The standalone shows built up to The Defenders, which, despite its potential, didn’t quite reach the heights. However, the demand for these characters to return hasn’t waned. Winderbaum believes it’s only a matter of time before the Defenders cross paths again.
“I want to follow the characters and see where they go,” he shared. “I think the two characters that are most important for Daredevil: Born Again are obviously Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. They live and breathe in a world where these other Defenders characters are walking around somewhere, so I think collisions are inevitable.”
So, even if Daredevil doesn’t officially reunite with the Defenders in a standalone project, their paths may still cross organically in the MCU. Moreover, with ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ on the horizon, the possibilities for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to re-enter the MCU are at an all-time high.
