Marvel’s new animated series, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’, is swinging onto Disney Plus this January 29, promising an exciting and fresh take on the web-slinger’s adventures. The show has already generated major buzz due to its not following the canon and having an impressive lineup of characters.
This includes none other than Charlie Cox reprising his role as Daredevil. The beloved actor is lending his voice to the Man Without Fear once again, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled.
Despite Charlie Cox’s Return As Daredevil, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Isn’t Part Of The Bigger MCU
The newly released featurette for ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ showcases glimpses of Captain America, Doctor Strange, Doc Ock, and even Norman Osborn, voiced by Colman Domingo. Peter Parker, voiced by Hudson Thames, navigates a world where Osborn steps into the role of his mentor rather than Tony Stark.
This provides a fascinating twist on the Spider-Man we know and love. Surprisingly, though, this isn’t part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe. While this detour into an alternate timeline might disappoint fans who were hoping for deeper MCU integration, it also offers a bigger creative playground.
Cox’s return as Daredevil, even in animated form, is a major win for Marvel fans. Additionally, while his role in ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ excites us, don’t forget that Cox is also set to wear the red suit again in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, premiering March 4, 2025.
‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Episodes To Release In Bundles Throughout February
Marvel Animation is taking some big swings with ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’. The series flips the script on Peter Parker’s journey by placing Norman Osborn at the center of his mentorship. What would Spider-Man’s story look like if it wasn’t Tony Stark guiding him, but Osborn?

Moreover, the series explores this intriguing premise, rewriting Peter’s timeline after the events of ‘Captain America: Civil War’. Additionally, instead of the traditional weekly episode drops, Marvel has decided on a batch-release model. According to the comicbook, after the two-episode premiere on January 29, episodes will be released in sets of two or three.
On February 5, episodes 3-5 will drop, followed by episodes 6-8 on February 12, and finally, episodes 9-10 on February 19. This strategy is quite different from what the MCU has followed previously. When it comes to the show not following any canon, Marvel TV Head Brad Winderbaum had a lot to say.
“There’s a reason we changed the title to Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. It’s about the neighborhood. It’s an ensemble show,” he explained. This emphasis on ensemble storytelling ensures that every character will have rich arcs to explore. It’s safe to assume that the show is taking cues from classic Spider-Man stories while injecting their own flair.
