Charlie Cox, known for his portrayal of Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, expressed his commitment to the role in a way that mirrors the longevity of the character in the comics. In short, he is not planning on retiring anytime soon.
Just as the comics explore Murdock’s struggles and triumphs over decades, Cox hopes to continue evolving the character on-screen.
Charlie Cox Doesn’t Want To Say Goodbye To Daredevil Anytime Soon
While talking at a Fan Expo, Charlie Cox revealed his excitement about staying in the red suit for years to come. “They’re getting ready to release a comic that takes place where Matt Murdock is in his 60s, so I was like, ‘Oh, okay, great, so we got some time,‘” Cox shared with fans.

His comment highlights his enthusiasm for not only continuing to develop Daredevil as a character but also exploring the complexities that come with playing an aging superhero. Moreover, this reference to the upcoming Daredevil comic shows Cox’s passion for the character.
In the comics, Matt Murdock’s later years explore themes of legacy, mortality, and the enduring cost of his dual life as a lawyer and vigilante. So, it’s no surprise that Cox, who has portrayed Murdock since 2015, feels drawn to the idea of portraying the hero over decades, much like the comic book version.
Foggy And Karen To Return For ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
With Daredevil’s return to the small screen in the highly anticipated Disney+ series ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, fans have been eager to learn about the fate of two pivotal characters: Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. Charlie Cox, in an interview with EW, confirmed that their return to the MCU is critical to Matt Murdock’s journey.

“I think of Karen and Foggy as being the heartbeat of Daredevil. Without them, nothing that Matt does really has any emotional impact,” Cox explained. “The humanity and vulnerability that they brought to those characters allows me as Matt to really delve into the darkness.” In the Netflix series, Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page were emotional anchors.
Moreover, they humanized Murdock, grounding his often morally ambiguous decisions in compassion and loyalty. When Marvel Studios initially announced ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, the characters were not included in the show. However, following a creative overhaul, the decision was reversed, much to the relief of the Daredevil community.
