Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, but one of his most important co-stars needed a little convincing before stepping onto set. The co-star? His daughter in real life, India Rose Hemsworth.
She returns as Love, Thor’s adopted daughter, who was first introduced in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. And, as Hemsworth says, she was not exactly excited about clocking in.
Chris Hemsworth Had To Make A Deal With His Daughter
In a recent episode of The View, Hemsworth gave a refreshingly candid look at what life is like with BTS. When India arrived on set, she apparently greeted the experience with peak teenage energy. “She walks on set, and she’s like, ‘How long is this gonna take?’” Hemsworth recalled, laughing at her unimpressed attitude. She even, at one time, wondered why she was there at all, particularly because she felt that she was not being paid.

Technically, she was. Hemsworth clarified that her salary is being held until she is 18. However, that was not enough to close the deal. The actual negotiation was allegedly based on a motorbike that she was interested in. “So, a slight negotiation, and then off she went,” Hemsworth joked.
‘Doomsday’ Marks A More Emotional Chapter For Thor
India’s return might be short-lived. Hemsworth hinted that she was in the country for just a few days. However, her appearance seems to have a significant emotional impact. In the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ teaser, Thor prays that this is his last fight in order to go back home and provide his daughter with a peaceful life. That in itself is an indication of a tonal change.

Following the light, humorous tone of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Love and Thunder’, Doomsday appears to be inclined towards something more serious. Family is becoming a major theme, and some of the returning heroes now have family members who further escalate the conflict.
Hemsworth has already described the film as “incredibly emotional” and promised it “will blow you away”. The scale is massive, with Robert Downey Jr. reprising the role of Doctor Doom and several legacy heroes coming together once again. However, for Thor, the heart of the story can be a lot smaller and closer. Sometimes, it is not only about heroism, but it’s about getting back home.
