‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Finale’s Brutality Makes The MCU Feel Like ‘The Boys’ Universe

The MCU has officially crossed a line and there’s no going back. While ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ proudly embraced its R-rating, it’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ that just delivered the most gruesome, blood-soaked moment Marvel Studios has ever dared to put on screen.

The shocking execution of Commissioner Gallo at the hands of Wilson Fisk wasn’t just disturbing, it was a pivotal, terrifying moment that redefines what the MCU’s street-level stories are capable of.

In ‘Born Again’s final episode titled “Straight to Hell“, we’re shown, in graphic detail, just how far the Kingpin will go to cement his power. For fans who’ve followed Vincent D’Onofrio’s chilling portrayal of Fisk since ‘Daredevil’ season 1, this was a moment that felt real. When Commissioner Gallo is dragged before Mayor Wilson Fisk by the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, it’s clear this isn’t going to end well.

Gallo, one of the last honest cops in New York, was plotting against the new regime, trying to preserve justice in a city quickly descending into authoritarian control. However, it was clear that he never stood a chance. Fisk doesn’t waste time with threats or lectures. He walks up to Gallo, grabs his head, and with monstrous force, crushes his skull with his bare hands.

The moment that comes after felt like something straight out of ‘The Boys‘. As Fisk shatters Gallo’s jaw and splashes blood across the floor in front of his loyal task force, the message is clear. Defying Fisk equals death. It’s the most terrifying flex of power the MCU has ever shown. And while some may call the scene too much, it serves a devastating narrative purpose. Fisk is no longer just the criminal underworld’s puppet master, he’s a warlord.

And if this is how he handles a cop, what does that mean for Daredevil and the scattered group of vigilantes left fighting for their city? Even actor Michael Gaston, who portrayed Gallo, admitted the moment was one of the most shocking in his long career of on-screen deaths. “It is the most colorful. It is the most dynamic,” he stated. “Let’s just say it’s pretty shocking, what happened to me.” Shocking is clearly an understatement.

The Daredevil And Punisher Are Coming For Blood

If ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ ended with that brutal execution alone, it would’ve been a grim but powerful closing note. However, Marvel wasn’t finished. The post-credits scene shifts to Kingpin’s dungeon, where the Punisher, locked in a cage, finally makes his move. Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle lures a young guard close, only to violently break the man’s arm and use the moment to escape.

We don’t see the full breakout, but the sounds of chains, keys, and muffled screams are enough. The Punisher is free. And now, with Kingpin’s atrocities reaching new levels, Frank has every reason to do what he does best: punish. This isn’t just a tease for another side story. It’s a declaration that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is just the beginning of a larger, bloodier street-level saga in the MCU.

Meanwhile, Daredevil, reeling from losses, including the murder of Foggy Nelson by Bullseye, is building an army of his own. He’s joined by Karen Page, newcomer Angie Kim, and others who still believe New York is worth saving. However, if Fisk is willing to tear a man’s head apart in front of his team, what hope do they really have?

What makes this all the more tragic is how close Daredevil and the Punisher have grown. Their ideological differences remain, Matt refuses to kill, while Frank sees it as necessary. But the respect between them is undeniable. Whether they’ll work together again, or end up clashing once more, remains to be seen.
