‘Daredevil: Born Again’ May Be Setting Up Kingpin’s Downfall In The MCU

The MCU street-level corner is finally breathing again, as ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 is not merely narrating a gritty story; it is also setting the stage for a significant power shift in New York.

Wilson Fisk is at the heart of it all, and his control of the city is beginning to appear a lot less safe than he would prefer.

A Subtle ‘Born Again’ Scene Could Signal The End Of Kingpin’s Reign

For a man who thrives on control, that’s a dangerous place to be. In the recent episodes, the war on vigilantes by Fisk has been heating things, yet there is something more interesting going on. The fissures are not being created by external forces, but rather in his own circle. And, should Marvel be playing the long game (which it tends to do), this might be the start of the end of Kingpin’s political career.

Among the most revealing scenes is not a fight or a dramatic confrontation, but a dialogue. In a formal dinner, there are hints of a subtle conversation that Sheila Rivera, one of the closest allies of Fisk, may not be as loyal as she seems. The comparison to Iago, a classic symbol of betrayal, isn’t random. In shows like ‘Born Again’, such references are not thrown around carelessly.

Sheila has already demonstrated that she is not comfortable with the growing aggressive policies of Fisk, and that indecisiveness may turn into action. Should she betray him, it would not be personal, but political. And that’s where things get really interesting. Because taking down Fisk doesn’t require brute force anymore. It just needs someone on the inside willing to pull the right thread.

What This Means for Spider-Man and Beyond

This is where the larger MCU puzzle begins to fall into place. In ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, initial shots indicate a much different New York, where Spider-Man is not a fugitive but a celebrity. That in itself tells you that Fisk’s rule does not last. Should Sheila intervene as a substitute, or even a transitional leader, it might be the beginning of a new era in the city.

A shift from fear-driven leadership to something more hopeful. And that would have a direct effect on the functioning of heroes on the ground. Another possibility is also lurking in the background. As characters like Luke Cage are rumored to come back, Marvel might be positioning an even greater evolution, one that reflects the comics, where power shifts in unpredictable directions.

However, we need not be too hasty. In the meantime, the lesson is easy to grasp: Fisk’s empire is shaky. And when a man like Kingpin goes down, he does not merely lose his power; he carries the city with him. The actual question is, who is willing to clean up the mess?
